Terminology3.1 GeneralPulpers are intended for grinding of foodscraps and limited amounts of card

17、board, paper, and disposableplastic food service wear. Materials are ground in a water filledtank (pulper) to produce a slurry, which is then passed into adisposal system or holding tank. Pulpers are not intended forgrinding glass, china, metal, wood, clam, or oyster shell.3.2 Definitions of Terms S

18、pecific to This Standard:3.2.1 pulper, nthe pulper tank has a motor driven grindingdisk to grind and cut waste material, and mixes this materialwith water to produce a slurry that is pumped to a disposalsystem or holding tank through a sizing screen. Pulpers mayconsist of the following principal par

19、ts: tank, motor, grindingdisk, particle sizing ring, legs, feed chute, stationary cutters,and rotating cutters.4. Classification4.1 GeneralPulper assemblies shall be of the followingtype, size, and options as specified.4.2 Type, Size, and Options:4.2.1 Type AFree standing pulper with feed tray assem

20、blyand flanged feet.4.2.2 Type BUndercounter pulper for 34-in. (86-cm) highcounter, with feed chute and flanged feet.4.3 All equipment of the same model designation andoptions on the same purchase order shall have componentinterchangeability for serviceability.5. Ordering Information5.1 Purchasers s

21、hould select the preferred options permittedin this specification and include the following information inprocurement documents:5.1.1 Title, number, and date of publication for this speci-fication.5.1.2 Classification of size and type.5.1.3 Electrical power supply voltage range (see 9.1).5.1.4 Elect

22、rical controls when specified to be remote fromthe unit (see 9.3).5.1.5 Spare and maintenance parts required.5.1.6 Designate special features required for installation,such as location of controls.5.1.7 When naval shipboard use is intended (see Supple-mental Requirements).6. Materials6.1 Unless othe

23、rwise specified, pulpers shall be fabricatedof materials as specified below. Materials shall be free fromdefects, which would adversely effect the performance ormaintainability of individual components or the overall assem-bly. The unit shall be manufactured for cleanability.6.1.1 Corrosion-Resistan

24、t Steelshall conform to the re-quirements of any 300 series steel specified in SpecificationA 167, Specification A 276, Specification A 554, and Specifi-cation A 582/A 582M.6.1.2 Corrosion-Resisting MaterialCorrosion-resistingmaterial is other than corrosion resistant steel that is equivalentin the

25、pulper application.6.1.3 Abrasion-Resistant Cast Iron, shall conform to therequirements specified in Specification A 532.6.1.4 Austenitic Cast Iron, shall conform to the require-ments specified in Specification A 436.6.1.5 Copper Tube, shall conform to the requirements speci-fied in Specification B7

26、5.6.1.6 Brass Pipe, shall conform to the requirements speci-fied in Specification B436.1.7 Alloy Steel, shall conform to the requirements speci-fied in Specifications A 6, A 29, A 505, A 513, A 519, andA 681.6.1.8 Black and Galvanized Pipe, shall conform to therequirements specified in Specification

27、 A 120.6.1.9 Gaskets and Seals, shall conform to the requirementsspecified in Specification D 2287, and Classifications D 2000and F 104.6.1.10 Perforated Metal, shall conform to the requirementsspecified in Specification E 674.6.1.11 Stainless Steel Pipe, shall conform to the require-ments specified

28、 in Specification A 269.6.1.12 Plastic Piping and Fittingsshall conform to therequirements specified in Specifications A 442, D 3915, F 437,F 439, F 441/F 441M, and F 443.6.1.13 Austenitic Gray Iron Pipe Fittingsshall conform tothe requirements specified in Specifications A 126.7. Design and Constru

29、ction7.1 The pulper shall be complete, ready for water, waste,and electrical connections. Undercounter units shall be readyfor connection to tabling. Optional remote controls shall becomplete and ready for wall mount and interconnection to thepulper. The pulper shall comply with the requirements ofU

30、L 430, 508, and ASSE Standard 1012.7.2 ValvesManual valves, water solenoid or motorizedvalves, backflow prevention valves or air gaps, and flowregulators shall be of corrosion-resistant materials. Solenoid ormotorized valves shall be fully automatic and suitable for100F (37.8C) water.7.3 TanksTanks

31、shall be of corrosion-resistant steel withminimum sheet metal thickness of 0.070 in. (1.78 mm). Anytank frame structure shall be of corrosion-resistant steel withminimum metal thickness of 0.120 in. Cutters shall be of cor

33、rosion-resistant material.7.5 Sizing RingEach pulper shall be supplied with acorrosion-resistant steel perforated ring.7.6 Pulper DiskThe disk shall be of corrosion-resistantsteel with a minimum thickness of 0.218 in. (5.54 mm), with atleast two carbide cutting teeth attached.7.7 Pulper Motor Shaft

34、Sealshall be a mechanical seal.The seal is to prevent soil and water leakage down the shaftfrom the pulper to the motor.7.8 Pulper Motor SlingerA slinger disk shall be mountedon the motor shaft, above the motor and below the shaft seal.The slinger is to prevent any leakage through the shaft sealfrom

35、 entering the motor.7.9 MotorThermal overload protection shall be providedeither on the motor or in the control circuitry. Overloadprotection shall require manual reset to restart the motor.7.10 Support LegsThe pulper shall be supported by atleast four legs, each with flange feet suitable for boltin

36、g to thefloor. Feet shall be adjustable 60.75 in. (19 mm) from nominalfor leveling and setting the final installed height. Legs and feetshall be designed for cleanability.7.11 Plating, Coating, and PaintingPulpers or their indi-vidual components, if not made of corrosion-resistant steel orcorrosion-

37、resisting materials, shall be plated, coated, or paintedfor corrosion protection in accordance with the manufacturersstandard practice.7.12 Wiring, Controls, and Circuit Protective DevicesAllwiring, controls, and circuit protective devices shall be inaccordance with UL 430, UL 508,orNFPA 70. The mai

38、nelectrical enclosure shall be of NEMA 4X construction andshall be provided with a main fused or circuit breaker discon-nect device. Supplemental electrical enclosures, if provided,shall be of NEMA 4X construction.8. Operation Requirements8.1 The feed chute or feed tray assembly must be inposition,

39、as evidenced by an indicator light. Pulper motor shallnot operate if the feed chute or feed tray assembly is not inposition. Pulper motor shall stop and require a manual restart ifthe feed chute or feed tray assembly is removed duringoperation.8.2 Pushing the “start” button shall open the water supp

40、lyvalve and start the pulper motor. Pushing the “stop” buttonshall close the water supply valve and stop the pulper motor.9. Electrical Requirements9.1 The equipment and controls shall meet the requirementsof UL 430, UL 508, and NFPA 70. The pulper shall operate onone of the following power characte

41、ristics specified: (A)200/3/60; (B) 230/3/60; and, (C) 460/3/60.9.2 ControlsAll control equipment shall be capable ofoperation in an ambient room temperature of 115 6 9F (46 65C). Start-stop push buttons and pilot lights shall be mountedin corrosion-resistant steel NEMA 4X enclosures.9.3 Wiring and

42、Circuit Safety DevicesAll wiring betweenthe pulper components shall have provisions for connection ata recognized junction on the pulper.10. Lubrication Requirements10.1 Means for effective and adequate lubrication shall beprovided when required. Lubricating points shall be readilyaccessible, and th

43、e pulper shall be lubricated with the properamount of lubricant prior to delivery.11. Finish Requirements11.1 The pulper shall be treated and painted in accordancewith the manufacturers standard practice. All surfaces of themachine, other than corrosion-resistant materials, shall beprotected against

44、 corrosion in the use environment and shallpresent a neat appearance.12. Performance Requirements12.1 The pulper shall meet the capacity requirements givenin 12.2, and shall not leak when tested at 125 % of themanufacturers recommended supply line pressure.12.2 PerformanceSee below:Pulper Hp 3Food s

Test Methods13.1 SignificanceThe purpose of this test method is todemonstrate the ability of the unit to meet the capacityrequirements and to insure that there is no leakage duringoperation.13.2 ProcedureThe machine shall be tested at full loadcapacity in accordance wi

46、th the manufacturers operatinginstructions. The machine shall function as intended withoutinterruption or malfunction.14. Certification14.1 Certification of compliance with the standards cited inthis specification shall be provided to the purchaser if requiredin the purchase document.15. Product Mar

47、king15.1 Machine IdentificationIdentification shall be perma-nently and legibly marked directly on the pulper or on acorrosion-resistant material securely attached to the machine atthe source of manufacture. Identification shall include themanufacturers model, serial number and name, and trademarkto

48、 be readily identifiable. In addition, information required byUL shall be included on the data plate.15.2 Instruction PlateAn instruction plate of corrosion-resistant material shall be attached to each TypeAmachine andbe visible to the operator.16. Machine Manuals16.1 The following information shall

49、 be supplied in themanuals:16.1.1 Installation instructions.16.1.2 Operating guide.16.1.3 Maintenance procedures.16.1.4 Service parts list.16.1.5 Electrical schematics.16.2 Manuals shall be in accordance with SpecificationF 760.F 1899 98 (2008)1317. Packaging and Packing Materials17.1 The pulper shall be packaged and packed in accor-dance with Practice D 3951.18. Quality Assurance18.1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the manufacturer is responsible for the performance ofall requirements as specified in the contra
