3、s specification covers metal insert fittings with splitring and compression nut (compression joint) and metal insertfittings with copper crimp rings (crimp joint) for four sizes ofcomposite pressure pipe. These fittings are intended for use in125 psi (690 kPa) cold- and hot-water distribution system

4、soperating at temperatures up to and including 180 F (82 C).(When used in polyethylene/aluminum/polyethylene systemsthe maximum operating temperature is limited by the pipe to140 F (60 C) and where applicable 180F (82C). Includedare the requirements for materials, workmanship, burst pres-sure, susta

5、ined pressure, excessive temperature and pressure,temperature cycling tests, and markings to be used on thefittings and rings. The fittings covered by this specification areintended for use in potable water distribution systems forresidential and commercial applications, water service, under-ground

6、irrigation systems, and radient panel heating systems,baseboard, snow- and ice-melt systems, and gases that arecompatible with the composite pipe and fittings.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The SI values stated in parentheses areprovided for information

7、purposes.NOTE 1The tables show the “nominal size” in millimetres with theinch size in parentheses. Classification4.1 This specification covers two classes of fittings, fittingswith split ring and compression nut and fittings with a coppercrimp ring, suitable for use with four sizes of PEX/AL/PEX orPE/AL/PE pipe that meets the requirements of SpecificationsF 128

Materials and Manufacture5.1 FittingsThe fittings shall be made from one of thefollowing metals.5.1.1 Wrought Copper FittingsWrought copper fittingsshall be made from material meeting the requirements ofSpecification B75for one of the following coopers: copperUNS C10200,

20、 C10300, C10800, C12000, or C12200.5.1.2 Cast Copper Alloy FittingsCast copper alloy fittingsshall be made from material meeting the requirements ofSpecification B 584, copper alloy UNS C84400, C85700,C85710, or Specification B62, copper alloy UNS C83600.When fittings are assembled with copper inser

26、(Si), with a Shore A durometerbetween 60 and 70 when tested in accordance with ASTMStandard D 2240.6. Performance Requirements6.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings and PEX/AL/PEX pipe. Fittings, splitrings and crimp rings shall meet the material and dimensional

27、requirements of this standard. PEX/AL/PEX pipe shall meetthe requirements of Specification F 1281. Assembly of testspecimens shall be in accordance with either 8.1 or 8.2,asapplicable. Each assembly shall contain at least one joint. Useseparate sets of assemblies for each performance test require-me

28、nt.6.2 Hydrostatic BurstAssemblies shall meet the mini-mum hydrostatic burst requirements shown in Table 1 whentested in accordance with 9.5.6.3 Hydrostatic Sustained Pressure StrengthPipe and fit-ting assemblies shall not separate or leak when tested inaccordance with 9.6.6.4 ThermocyclingAssemblie

29、s shall not leak or separatewhen thermocycled 1000 cycles between the temperatures of60 F (16 C) and 180 F (82 C) in accordance with 9.7.6.5 Excessive Temperature-Pressure CapabilityAssemblies shall not leak or separate when tested in accor-dance with 9.8.3.Available from American National Standards

32、ngs, split rings and crimp rings shall be as shownin Tables 2-4 when measured in accordance with 9.4.7.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of anyopening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder Joint EndsSolder joint endsshall be in accordance with ANSI B16.2

33、2, ANSI B16.18,orMSS SP-104.7.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1. They shall betaper threads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. The fitting walls shall

34、 be free ofcracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions or other defectsthat are visible to the naked eye and that affect the wallintegrity.8.1.1 AssemblyInsert fittings shall be joined to PE/AL/PEor PEX/AL/PEX pipe by the use of either a crimp joint or acompression joint.8.1.2 Crimp JointsCri

35、mp insert fittings shall be joined toPE/AL/PE or PEX/AL/PEX pipe by the compression of acopper crimp ring around the outer circumference of the pipeforcing the pipe material into annular spaces formed by ribs onthe fitting. The dimensions and out-of-roundness of the crimpring after it has been crimp

36、ed shall be in accordance with Table5.8.1.2.1 Crimping ProcedureTo affix the insert fitting tothe pipe with the crimp ring, the crimping procedure shall be asfollows: slide the crimp ring onto the pipe, insert the ribbed endof the fitting into the end of the pipe until the pipe contacts theshoulder

37、of the fitting or pipe stop. The crimp ring shall then bepositioned on the pipe so the edge of the crimp ring is18 to14in. (3.2 to 6.4 mm) from the end of the pipe. The jaws of thecrimping tool shall be centered over the crimp ring and the toolshall be held so that the crimping jaws are perpendicula

38、r to theaxis of the barb. The jaws of the crimping tool shall be closedaround the crimp ring, compressing the crimp ring onto thepipe. The crimp ring shall not be crimped more than once. Eachcrimp shall be checked to determine conformance to the aftercrimped dimensional requirements of Table 5.8.2 C

39、ompression JointsCompression insert fittings shallbe joined to PE/AL/PE or PEX/AL/PEX pipe through thecompression of a split ring, by an compression nut, around theouter circumference of the pipe forcing the pipe material intothe annular space formed by ribs on the fitting.TABLE 2 Crimp Joint Fittin
