7、gy3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 concession go-kart, nan amusement ride or device,which meets all of the following specifications: the device is asingle vehicle, unattached to other vehicles or a common framesystem, which is powered without connection to a commonenergy sour
8、ce, which is driver controlled with respect toacceleration, speed, braking, and steering, which operateswithin the containment system of a defined track, and whichsimulates competitive motor sports, which is used by membersof the general public for a fee. A concession go-kart has amaximum capacity o
9、f two persons and no cargo capacity.3.1.1.1 DiscussionThis definition specifically excludessimilar go-kart devices that are intended for use as competitive(racing) karts or similar go-kart devices intended for ownershipand use by private owners. This definition specifically excludesdevices, such as
10、electronically or rail guided amusement ridesand bumper cars or other similar amusement motor sportsdevices that operate under circumstances where there is nodefined direction of travel.3.1.2 concession go-kart attendant, nthe person or per-sons whose duties may include but are not limited to theins
11、truction, dispatch, and limitation of ride duration of personsdriving concession go-karts.3.1.3 containment system, na device installed on theconcession go-kart track, which defines the boundaries of thetrack, and whose primary purpose is to contain the vehicleswithin the defined boundary.3.1.4 driv

Significance and Use4.1 This practice is intended to delineate information for thedesi
19、gn, manufacture, and operation of concession go-karts andrelated track facilities, that are designed and manufacturedafter the publication of this practice.5. Concession Go-Kart Design and Manufacture5.1 Concession go-karts shall be designed, constructed, oroperated in such a manner that the wheels
20、from one go-kartcannot engage or override the wheels of another go-kartoperating under normal conditions.5.2 Concession go-kart manufacturers shall provide speci-fications, and maintenance and repair instructions to theoriginal purchaser in accordance with Practice F1193 and shallinclude, but not be
21、 limited to, the following topics:5.2.1 Brake adjustments and service;5.2.2 Steering linkage adjustment and service;5.2.3 Wheel alignment adjustment and service;5.2.4 Tire inflation pressures;5.2.5 Tire wear limits;5.2.6 Wheel nut torque values;5.2.7 Grade of all fasteners;5.2.8 Torque value or tigh
22、tening instruction on all fasteners;5.2.9 Chassis lubrication points including recommendedlubricants;5.2.10 Drive system specifications and service instructions;5.2.11 Frame inspection procedures;5.2.12 Seat belt adjustment, installation, and inspectionprocedures;5.2.13 Capacity by weight;5.2.14 Max
23、imum operating speeds;5.2.15 Service and adjustment procedures for all compo-nents of the go-kart;5.2.16 A phone number or fax number to be used by thetrack owner or concession go-kart attendant to secure mainte-nance or operating assistance from the manufacturer; and,5.2.17 Daily, weekly, monthly,
24、or other periodic minimumservice and component checklists.5.3 Concession go-kart fuel tanks, filler necks, and capsshall be designed and manufactured to meet or exceed thetesting requirements of Section 3.2 of SAE J12411978.5.3.1 Fuel tank, filler neck, and cap field testing proceduresshall be speci
25、fied by the concession go-kart manufacturer.5.4 Concession go-kart fuel tanks shall be installed in sucha manner to minimize the potential for rupture or damage in theevent of collision with another go-kart, obstacle, or rollover.5.5 Manufacturer shall clearly mark throttle and brakelocations of con
26、cession go-karts in a visible position on thebody or chassis of the go-kart, or by coloring the throttle greenand the brake control red.5.6 Manufacturer shall specify the maximum operatingspeed for concession go-karts.5.6.1 Speed limitation devices shall be incorporated inconcession go-karts, that i
27、s, throttle stops, pedal stops, gover-nors, gearing, throttle linkage adjustors, etc., to limit speeds.5.7 Manufacturer shall specify any driver and passengerrequirements, which may include height, passenger placement,or any other appropriate requirements.5.8 Concession go-karts shall be equipped wi
28、th occupantcompartment padding consistent with Section 6 of PracticeF1159.5.9 Concession go-karts shall have protective covers orcomponent placement for moving or heated components of theengine and drive train system, to inhibit driver or passengerfrom inadvertent contact with these components while
29、 seatedin the intended position for operation and while properlyrestrained.5.10 Concession go-karts shall have occupant seating andrestraint system(s) consistent with Section 6 of Practice F1159.5.11 Concession go-karts shall have a roll over protectionsystem that supports the combined driver or pas
30、senger weightcapacity, or both, as specified by the manufacturer, and theweight of the go-kart.5.12 Manufacturer shall provide recommendations for theuse, adjustment, and maintenance of restraint, protective, orother safety devices provided with or for their concessiongo-karts.5.12.1 The go-kart man
31、ufacturer shall provide instructionsfor the proper method of restraint system installation andadjustment, and restraint system inspection criteria includingbut not limited to limits on fraying and wear.5.12.1.1 Replacement restraint system components shallmeet or exceed the go-kart manufacturers ori
32、ginal specifica-tions.5.12.1.2 When an upper torso belt assembly is used which iscoupled to a lap belt, the manufacturer shall provide instruc-tions for the proper adjustment of the upper belt(s) so that thelap belt component shall not raise off of the drivers orpassengers upper thighs and into the
33、abdomen.5.13 The concession go-kart braking system shall havesufficient braking capacity to override the power of the enginewhile at a standstill.6. Concession Go-Kart Track Design and Construction6.1 Concession go-kart tracks shall have a containmentsystem, which meets or exceeds the recommendation
34、s of themanufacturers of the concession go-kart used on each specifictrack.6.1.1 Tire containment systems, if used without a track sidecontinuous band, shall consist of tires that are fastened securelyto each other and anchored to prevent relocation.6.1.2 When tires are used as support components fo
35、r acontinuous band containment system, the tires shall be placedwith adequate horizontal separation to help prevent the tiresfrom raising the band upon being impacted by a go-kart.6.1.3 Tires used for a containment system on a concessiongo-kart track shall be free of rims or wheels. Tires used forot
36、her purposes, such as pit entry spinner tires, shall be mountedF2007 112on rims/wheels, inflated, and the wheels shall be installed on arigidly mounted spindle.6.1.3.1 Spinner tires shall be inflated to a maximum pres-sure of 5 psi.6.1.3.2 Spinner tire wheels shall be distinctly marked as“NO STEP.”6
37、.1.4 Concession go-kart track bridges shall have a second-ary containment system behind the primary containment sys-tem and on both the approach and egress of bridge. Thiscontainment system shall be adequate to retain a go-kart on thetrack or perimeter surface.6.2 Concession go-kart track surfaces s
38、hall be free ofvertical misalignment greater than34 in. within 1 in. horizontaldistance and made of a material that cannot be moved ordisplaced by normal go-kart operation.6.3 The concession go-kart track running surface shall nothave intersections on the same horizontal plane with theexception of t
39、he entrance and exit points of the pit area.6.4 A perimeter fence shall be provided that is designed andconstructed in accordance with the section on fencing foramusement rides and devices in Practice F1159. This fenceshall restrict unauthorized public access to the concessiongo-kart track.6.5 Obstr
40、uctions, which could be struck by go-karts duringoperations, on a concession go-kart track shall be protected bya material, which will reduce or minimize the impact.6.6 Concession go-kart track pit areas shall protect anypermanent obstructions by material that will reduce or mini-mize impact or by u
41、tilizing impact safety systems. Impactsafety systems may include, but not be limited to, safetyspinners, traffic guidance, or remote control devices.6.7 Concession go-kart tracks operating at night shall haveappropriate illumination to allow for visual observation of theentire track and pit areas by
42、 concession go-kart attendants anddrivers.6.8 A minimum of a 10 lb B.C.-rated fire extinguisher shallbe accessible within a maximum of seventy feet of any point ofthe concession go-kart track in accordance with local, state,and federal regulations.6.8.1 A minimum of a 10 lb B.C.-rated fire extinguis
43、hershall be located in the concession go-kart track pit area and beeasily accessible to concession go-kart attendants.6.8.2 Fire extinguisher locations should be marked in accor-dance with local, state, and federal regulations.6.8.3 Fire extinguishers permanently mounted in weatherexposed locations
44、shall be protected by an enclosure approvedby local, state, and federal regulations.6.8.4 Fueling areas at a concession go-kart track shallcomply with local, state, and federal regulations.6.9 Markings or signs indicating direction of concessiongo-kart travel and to identify pit lanes shall be provi
45、ded in amanner that is clearly visible to concession go-kart drivers.6.10 The entry and pit area of a concession go-kart trackshould include instruction and rules signs visible from the mainentrance to the queue line and other appropriate locations toenable all patrons to read rules and procedures o
46、f safe trackoperation.6.10.1 The instruction signage may include the followinginformation:6.10.1.1 Instructions concerning placement of hands on thesteering wheel and feet inside the driver/passenger compart-ment of the go-kart at all times.6.10.1.2 Height, or age restrictions, or both.6.10.1.3 Inst
47、ructions concerning securing long hair andloose clothing.6.10.1.4 Restrictions regarding smoking in concession go-karts or in pit areas.6.10.1.5 Instructions regarding proper starting and stoppingoperations.6.10.1.6 Instructions regarding proper seating of drivers andpassengers and the use of restra
48、ints.6.10.1.7 Information on complying with verbal, or signaledinstructions, or both, given by concession go-kart attendants.6.10.1.8 Instructions concerning bumping or pushing withgo-karts.6.10.1.9 Information regarding the importance of followingrules and instructions.6.11 Warning signage should b
49、e posted at appropriate loca-tions, which may include but not be limited to, the followingmessages:6.11.1 Warnings concerning forces and actions that couldaggravate physical conditions, that is, heart conditions, preg-nancy, neck and back conditions, etc.6.11.2 Drivers must have the abilities to operate theirgo-karts in a safe manner.7. Concession Go-Kart Facility Operations7.1 Safety training shall be provided for each concessiongo-kart attendant. This training shall include, but not be limitedto, the following:7.1.1 Instruction on concession go-kart operating proc
