Scope1.1 This practice describes the recommended minimuminformation to be conveyed by the manufacturers or sellers tobuyers

3、or end users for the wearing, care, and maintenance ofchemical protective clothing.1.1.1 This practice does not cover specific instructions forhow to select and when to use protective clothing or designrequirements.1.1.2 This practice does not apply to protective clothing thatis solely intended for

4、protection against flame and thermalhazards.1.2 Information provided by this practice aids organizationsthat select and use chemical protective clothing in theirimplementation of requirements established in Sections 10 and11 of Practice F1461.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thes

5、afety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Terminology3.1 For definitions of terms used in this practice related toprotective clothing, refer to Terminology F1494.3.2 Definitions:3.2.1 care, nprocedures for cleaning, sterilization,decontamination, and storage of protective clothing.3.2.2 contamination, nthe addition of an u

9、ndesired chemi-cal or substance to the protective clothing.3.2.3 decontamination, nthe reduction, removal, or neu-tralization of a contaminant or contaminants from protectiveclothing to the extent necessary to safely permit the protectiveclothing to be doffed (taken off), reused, or discarded.3.2.4

18、.1 DiscussionFor the purpose of this guide, theapplicable protective clothing is principally intended to provideprotection from chemicals and other hazardous substances.3.2.10 sanitization, na process that uses a type of antimi-crobial agent that reduces, but not necessarily eliminates,microorganism

19、s from the inanimate environment to levelsconsidered safe as determined by public health codes orregulations.3.2.10.1 DiscussionSanitizers are considered pesticidesand are subject to regulations established by the U.S. Environ-mental Protection Agency. In general, a sanitizer is judgedeffective when

20、 it reduces the number of microorganisms by99.9 % under specified testing conditions.3.2.11 storage life, nthe length of time that protectiveclothing can remain in storage, presuming that the protectiveclothing has undergone proper care and maintenance in accor-dance with the manufacturers instructi

Significance and Use4.1 This practice describes the minimum information to beprovide

22、d by the manufacturer or seller to the buyer or end userrelated to the wearing, care, and maintenance of chemicalprotective clothing. Adherence to this practice allows writteninformation to be provided with the protective clothing topurchasers by means of labels (such as labels complying withPractic

23、e F1301), pamphlets, or other documents.4.2 Not every element of this practice may be applicable toall chemical protective clothing components or configurations.It is the manufacturers or sellers responsibility to determinewhich portions of this practice, and the correspondingrequirements, are appli

24、cable to their chemical protective cloth-ing products. For informational requirements that are notapplicable because of the nature of the product and intendeduse, the manufacturer or seller is to indicate and describe thoseportions or requirements that are not applicable.4.3 All information related

25、to wearing, decontamination,care, and maintenance are required to be written in a manner sothat the end user can readily understand the details. Toemphasize important limitations, bold lettering and explicitwarning terminology (for example, signal words such asdanger,warning,and caution(described in

26、 ANSI Z535.4)are to be used. Where possible, pictograms and illustrations arerequired to convey specific instructions. In addition, the use ofsymbols, such as those provided in the care of textile productsin Guide D5489, are appropriate for indicating specific careprocedures used in cleaning protect

27、ive clothing where appli-cable.5. General Information and Information Related toWearing Instructions5.1 Address and Point-of-Contact InformationThe manu-facturer or seller shall provide an address, a contact telephonenumber, and means of electronic communication, asapplicable, for questions concerni

28、ng the proper use,limitations, decontamination, care, and maintenance of theprotective clothing. Provision of a toll-free emergency numberis encouraged but not required.5.2 Safety Considerations, Limitations of Use, and WarrantyInformationThe manufacturer or seller shall provide a list ofconsiderati

29、ons for the safe use of the protective clothing anddescribe specific limitations for the use of the protectiveclothing. As appropriate for the intended use of the protectiveclothing, the manufacturer or seller shall provide appropriatewarnings related to the use of the protective clothing product(fo

30、r example, CONDUCT A HAZARD AND RISK ASSESS-MENT TO DETERMINE THE SUITABILITY OF THISPROTECTIVE CLOTHING FOR ITS INTENDED USE; DONOT USE THIS PROTECTIVE CLOTHING NEAR OPENFLAME OR HIGH HEAT; FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESEINSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY ORDEATH). It is recommended that warnings be

31、 highlightedusing bold text and explicit terminology, such as the signalwords danger, warning, and caution, as described in ANSIZ535.4.5.3 WarrantyThe manufacturer or seller shall provide thewarranty statement and any associated information for theprotective clothing.5.4 Pre-Use InformationThe manuf

32、acturer or seller shallprovide information related for how to mark the protectiveclothing for purposes of identification by the end-userorganization, how to use specific product aids such as closurelubricants or visor antifog agents, and recommended undergar-ments and associated equipment to be worn

33、 with the protectiveclothing, as applicable. A statement shall be provided to thebuyer or end user that not all performance properties for theprotective clothing can be evaluated in the field.5.5 Sizing InformationThe manufacturer or seller shallindicate the types and number of sizes available for t

34、heprotective clothing and provide information for the selection ofthe correct size of the protective clothing by the end user anddescribe any adjustments that can be made for properly sizingthe protective clothing.NOTE 1One way of presenting this information is by using a chartindicating the appropr

35、iate size for ranges in key end-user dimensions, suchas height and waist circumference for full-body garments.5.6 Donning and Doffng InstructionsThe manufacturer orseller shall provide instructions to the buyer or end user on theproper donning (putting on and wearing) and doffing (removal)of the pro

36、tective clothing. This doffing information shallinclude the specific warnings about preventing cross contami-nation of other personnel, equipment, and street clothing, or tothe individual wearer, as required. The manufacturer or sellershall provide alternative instructions as needed for removal ofth

37、e protective clothing when contaminated with chemicals orother hazardous substances.F2061 1726. Information Related to Care Instructions6.1 Information Related to Cleaning:6.1.1 Cleaning InstructionsThe manufacturer or sellershall provide specific instructions for the end user to properlyclean, laun

38、der, or refurbish the protective clothing if theprotective clothing is designated by the manufacturer as able tobe cleaned. This information shall include instructions forwashing (for example, specific washing method, type ofwashing machine, machine cycle or formulation, detergents orcleaning agent,

39、 wash temperature, and pretreatment options)and drying (for example, the drying method, dryingtemperature, and length of time required).6.1.2 Cleaning Precautions and LimitationsWarnings forlimitations on the cleaning of protective clothing, such as lossof physical integrity or other forms of degrad

40、ation, shall beincluded in this section. Additionally, the manufacturer orseller shall describe methods to inspect or test for damages tothe protective clothing caused by cleaning or othermaintenance, as applicable. As part of these precautions andlimitations, the manufacturer or seller shall provid

41、e a statementadvising end users not to use protective clothing that is notthoroughly cleaned and dried.6.1.2.1 Where testing is specified, the manufacturer or sellershall provide procedures that specify the type of equipment tobe used, the steps in the testing, the results to be reported, andhow the

42、 results of the testing are interpreted.6.2 Information Related to Decontamination and Sanitiza-tion or Disinfection:6.2.1 Decontamination InstructionsThe manufacturer orseller shall provide specific instructions for removing variousforms of anticipated contamination, if decontamination isrecommende

43、d. These instructions shall include descriptions ofacceptable processes, the types of contaminants that can besafely removed, the means of handling contaminated protectiveclothing, the limitations of the processes, and all other infor-mation of importance to decontamination. This section shallalso i

44、nclude information necessary for decontamination whilethe protective clothing is being worn by the end user, asappropriate, to allow for safe doffing without the hazard ofcross contamination. If known, the manufacturer or seller shallrecommend practices or test methods to assist in determining ifthe

45、 decontamination has been effective.NOTE 2In the absence of information for determining effectivedecontamination of protective clothing, a warning that all contaminationmay not have been removed is appropriate.6.2.2 Sanitization or Disinfection InstructionsThe manu-facturer or seller shall provide s

46、pecific instructions for saniti-zation or disinfection of protective clothing, as appropriate, forpersonal hygiene or when the protective clothing has becomeexposed to microbial contamination.6.3 StorageThe manufacturer or seller shall provide spe-cific instructions for the end user to properly stor

47、e theprotective clothing before and after use. This information shallinclude any specific storage limitations relative to temperature,humidity, and atmospheric contaminants (for example, ozoneand ultraviolet light) or other storage limitations, includingfolding (which creates permanent creases).6.3.

48、1 Storage LifeThe manufacturer or seller shall provideinformation on end-of-life indications for the protectiveclothing, or storage life, or both. The manufacturer shall alsoprovide the basis for their recommended storage life or otherend-of-life indicators.NOTE 3The length of time that clothing can

49、 be stored assumes that theclothing has been properly cared for and maintained in accordance withmanufacturer instructions, and has not been subjected to any wearing.Storage life is a function of clothing material degradation caused bystorage conditions.7. Information Related to Maintenance7.1 Inspection InstructionsThe manufacturer or sellershall specify the frequency of inspection, provide specificinstructions so that the end user can perform a visual inspectionof the protective clothing, and indicate the types of defects thatare co
