Materials and Manufacture4.1 Materials:4.1.1 The bolts, cap screws, socket head cap screws andstuds shall be manufactured from material having a chemicalcomposition conforming to the requirements in Table 1, ex

23、ceptas provided in Supplementary Requirement S5, and capable ofdeveloping the required mechanical properties for the specifiedalloy in the finished fastener. See Specification B574 for nickelalloys.4.1.2 The starting condition of the raw material shall be atthe discretion of the fastener manufacture

24、r except as providedin Supplementary Requirement S5, but shall be such that thefinished products conform to all of the specified requirements.4.2 Manufacture:4.2.1 FormingUnless otherwise specified, the fastenersshall be cold formed, hot formed, or machined from suitablematerial, at the option of th

25、e manufacturer.4.2.2 ConditionExcept as provided in 4.2.3 and Supple-mentary Requirement S5, the fasteners shall be furnished in thefollowing conditions:Alloy ConditionCopper (all alloys) As formed or stress relieved at manufacturersoptionNickel alloys:400 and 405 As formed or stress relieved at man

27、urchaser for nickel alloys 400 and 405 andall copper alloys.4.2.4 ThreadsUnless otherwise specified, the threads shallbe rolled or cut at the option of the manufacturer.4.2.4.1 Bolts, cap screws and studs shall be rolled or cut atthe option of the manufacturer.4.2.4.2 Socket head cap screws and flat

28、 countersunk headcap screws in sizes up to 1.00 in. inclusive and product lengthsup to 6.00 in. inclusive shall have threads formed by rolling,except by special arrangement with the purchaser. Largerproducts may be rolled or cut at the option of the manufacturer.4.2.4.3 Button head cap screws shall

29、have threads formedby rolling.5. Chemical Composition5.1 Chemical CompositionThe fasteners shall conform tothe requirements as to chemical composition prescribed inTable 1 for the specified alloy, except as provided in Supple-mentary Requirement S5 when specified by the purchaser.5.2 Product Analysi

30、s:5.2.1 Product analyses may be made by the purchaser fromfinished products representing each lot. The chemical compo-sition thus determined shall conform to the requirements inTable 1.5.2.2 In the event of disagreement, a referee chemicalanalysis of samples from each lot shall be made in accordance
