Scope*1.1 This specification covers coextruded acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic drain, waste, and vent pipemade to Schedule 40 iron pipe sizes (IPS) and produced by thecoextrusion process with concentric inner and outer solid ABSlaye
4、rs and the core consisting of closed-cell cellular ABS.Plastic which does not meet the material requirements specifiedin Section 5 is excluded from single layer and all coextrudedlayers.1.2 Fittings suitable for use with pipe meeting the require-ments of this specification are given in Annex A1. Classification4.1 Pipe produced in accordance with this specification isintended to provide pipe suitable for the drainage and ventingof sewage and certain other non-hazardous liquid wastes.NOTE 1Before installing pipe for waste disposal use,
23、the approval ofthe cognizant building code authority should be obtained as conditions notcommonly found in normal use may be encountered and temperatures inexcess of 180F (82C) may be encountered.NOTE 2This specification does not include requirements for pipeintended to be used to vent combustion ga
24、ses.5. Materials5.1 Material SpecificationVirgin ABS plastic shall con-form to the requirements prescribed in Specification D3965with a cell classification of 4-2-2-2-2. The color and form ofthe material shall be as agreed upon between the seller and thepurchaser in accordance with Specification D39
25、65.5.2 The ABS plastic shall conform to the following require-ments:5.2.1 Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) PlasticPlastic shall contain a minimum of 15 % acrylonitrile, 6 %butadiene, and 15 % styrene or substituted styrene, or both, ofpolymers or blends of polymers.5.2.2 ABS plastic shall conta
26、in no more than 10 % of othermonomeric or polymeric components plus other necessarycompounding ingredients.5.3 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use only hisown clean rework pipe material conforming with these cellclass requirements. Use it only in the core layer. The pipeproduced shall meet all
27、 the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements6.1 GeneralThe pipe and fittings should be homogeneousthroughout and free of visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions,or other injurious defects. The pipe shall be as uniform ascommercially practicable in color, opacity, density, and otherphysi
28、cal properties.6.1.1 The requirements in this section are intended only foruse as quality control tests, not as simulated service tests.6.2 Dimension and Tolerance:6.2.1 Outside DiameterThe outside diameter and toler-ances shall meet the requirements of Table 1 when measured inaccordance with Test M
29、ethod D2122. The tolerances forout-of-roundness shall apply to pipe prior to shipment.6.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness and tolerancesshall meet the requirements of Table 2 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D2122.6.2.3 LengthThe pipe shall be in either 10 or 20-ft (3.05 or6.1-m) lengt

33、ffnessThe minimum pipe stiffness values at5 % deflection when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2412, shall equal or exceed the values in Table 3. The rate ofcrosshead motion shall be 0.20 to 0.25 in./min (5.1 to 6.3mm/min). Three specimens shall be tested. If all three meet thisrequirement, t
34、he sample meets this requirement. If one or twofail, additional testing shall be conducted in accordance with6.3.1.1. If all three fail, the sample does not meet therequirement.6.3.1.1 Pipe Stiffness and Lower Confidence LimitIn theevent that one or two of the specimens tested in 6.3.1 fail tomeet t
35、he minimum requirement, the average pipe stiffness ofeleven specimens shall meet or exceed the minimum require-ment given in Table 3. The 99 % lower confidence limit (LCL)shall be within 15 % of the average value. The LCL shall becalculated using the Students “t” distribution, with N-1 de-grees of f
36、reedom, where N is the number of specimens. Thecritical t value shall be used to at least three significant digits.Alternatively, if the LCL exceeds the minimum pipe stiffnessrequirement in Table 3, but is not within 15 % of the average,the sample meets the requirements of the Pipe Stiffness testing

41、timatestrength at rupture.6.3.2 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of rup-ture when pipe is deflected 25 % of the initial inside diameterwhen tested in accordance with Test Method D2412. Threespecimens shall be tested; all shall meet the requirements.Failure shall be a crack or break extendin
42、g entirely through thepipe wall visible to the unaided eye.6.3.3 Impact StrengthThe minimum impact resistance,when tested at the time of manufacture, shall comply withTable 4. Test in accordance with Test Method D2444 using TupA and Holder B. Use 12lb (5 kg) tup for testing pipe sizes 4in. and small
