Significance and Use4.1 The requirements of this specification are intended toprovide p
17、ipe and fittings suitable for nonpressure drainage ofsewage and surface water.NOTE 2Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only withthe specific approval of the governing code authority since chemicals notcommonly found in drains and sewers and temperatures in excess of140F may be encou
18、ntered.5. Materials5.1 Basic MaterialsThe pipe and fittings shall be made ofPVC plastic having a minimum cell classification of 12454 or12364 as defined in Specification D 1784. Homopolymer PVCcompounds must meet or exceed the requirements of the abovelisted minimum cell classification number.5.2 Re
19、work MaterialClean rework material generatedfrom the manufacturers own pipe or fittings production maybe used by the same manufacturer provided pipe or fittingsproduced meet all the requirements of this specification.5.3 GasketsElastomeric gaskets shall comply with therequirements described in Speci
20、fication F 477.5.4 LubricantThe lubricant used for assembly shall besuitable for use with PVC pipe and elastomeric seals for thisapplication and have no detrimental effect on the gasket or onthe pipe.6. Joining Systems6.1 Gasketed JointThe integral bell gasketed joint, cou-pling, or fitting joints s
21、hall be designed so that when as-sembled, the gasket (which is attached to either the bell or thespigot) will be compressed radially on the pipe spigot or in thebell to form a water-tight seal. The joints shall be designed tocomply with and show no sign of leakage when tested inaccordance with 7.7 w
22、hen assembled with pipe for which theyare intended.6.2 Couplings shall form a water-tight seal when assembledwith plain end pipe and show no sign of leakage when testedin accordance with 7.7 when assembled with pipe for whichthey are intended.NOTE 3The outside diameters of products manufactured to t
23、hisspecification are not specified and therefore joint compatibility should bereviewed.6.3 The joint shall be designed to avoid displacement of thegasket when assembled in accordance with the manufacturersrecommendation.6.4 The assembly of joints shall be in accordance with themanufacturers recommen
24、dations.7. Requirements57.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be essentiallyuniform in color, opacity, density, and other properties. Theinside and outside surfaces shall be semimatte or glossy inappearance and free of chalking, sticky, or tacky material. Thesurfaces shall be free of excess blo
25、om; that is, slight bloom isacceptable. The pipe walls shall be free of cracks, holes,blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects that arevisible to the naked eye and that may affect the wall integrity.Bloom or chalking may develop in pipe exposed to direct raysof the sun (ultraviolet radi
26、ant energy) for extended periods andconsequently these requirements do not apply to pipe afterextended exposure to direct rays of the sun.7.2 Pipe and Fitting Dimensions:7.2.1 DiameterThe inside diameter of the pipe shall meetthe requirements given in Table 1, Table 2, or Table 3 whenmeasured in acc
27、ordance with 8.4.1.7.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe minimum wall thickness of thewaterway of pipe and fittings fabricated from pipe sectionsshall meet the requirements given in Table 1 for open profile;and Table 2 or Table 3 for dual wall corrugated profile pipewhen measured in accordance with 8.4.2. The wal
28、l thickness offittings fabricated from pipes meeting the requirements ofSpecification D 3034, SDR 35 and Specification F 679 are alsosatisfactory. Molded fittings when made with an open profileshall conform to the minimum wall thickness requirementsgiven in Table 1.7.2.3 Bell Wall ThicknessIn the ca
29、se of belled pipe andfittings fabricated from pipe sections, the thickness of the wallin the bell shall be considered satisfactory if it was formedfrom pipe meeting the above requirements. For reducingfittings or those with smaller inlets, the minimum wall thick-ness for each inlet shall be no less
30、than the minimum wallthickness for that size pipe.7.2.4 Fittings:7.2.4.1 Molded FittingsMolded fittings conforming to therequirements of Specification D 3034, SDR 35 may also beused with profile gravity sewer pipe provided an adaptor (whenrequired) is used to make the connection. The minimum wallthi
31、ckness of the molded fittings and adaptors shall coincidewith the values listed in Table 1 of Specification D 3034 forSDR 35. When a molded fitting is used to join differenttypes of plastic pipes, the bell and the body or branch areaextending from the bell shall also conform to the minimumwall thickness and
33、profile of the pipe being installed into thebell.7.2.4.2 Fabricated FittingsFabricated fittings shall bemade from pipe meeting the requirements of this specification,Specification D 3034, SDR 35, or Specification F 679. Fabri-cated fittings with solvent cement components shall be made inaccordance w
34、ith Practice D 2855 and taking cognizance ofPractice F 402. Unreinforced solvent cement mitred joints shallnot be used. Fabricated joints shall be adequately lapped orfusion butt welded and, when needed additionally reinforced.NOTE 4A fabricated fittings standard is currently being developed byASTM
