Ordering Information5.1 Orders for materials under this specification shall in-clude the following:5.1.1 Quantity and size of each type, grade, and class.5.1.2 Paint:5.1.2.1 ColorThe purchaser shall pick from manufac
20、tur-ers samples or submit a sample chip of color desired.5.1.2.2 Manufacturers standard baked enamel will be fur-nished unless otherwise required and indicated by the pur-chaser.5.1.3 Color or pattern of melamine laminate top covering.5.1.4 If pedestal deck sockets are required, they shall bespecifi
21、ed in the ordering document; otherwise, the table manu-facturer shall have the option of supplying pedestals withoutsockets but with 2 in. (51 mm) of scribing for trimming andwelding to the deck on the ship.5.1.5 If the total weight of the table assembly is required, itshall be requested by the purc
22、haser.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 For typical design, see Fig. 1, Fig. 2, and Fig. 3.6.2 Tops:6.2.1 Tops shall be steel construction with a decorativemelamine laminate top cover. The minimum thickness for thetop plate, stiffener, and edge channels shall be 16 USSG(0.0598 in. or 1.50 mm) and made
23、 from cold-rolled steel sheetof commercial quality in accordance with Specification A366/A366M.6.2.2 The top cover shall be a high-pressure melaminelaminate in accordance with NEMA Specification LD-3 with amaximum thickness of116 in. (2 mm) securely bonded to thetop plate.6.2.3 Lee Rails, Fixed and
24、Adjustable, shall be anodizedaluminum alloy 6063-T1 in accordance with SpecificationB221. Studs for attaching to table top shall be Type 300stainless steel in accordance with Specification A582/A582M.6.2.4 Edge Binder for Tables with Adjustable Lee Rails,shall be flush with top of table and may be e
25、ither anodizedaluminum alloy 6063-T1 in accordance with SpecificationB221 or polished Type 300 stainless steel in accordance withSpecification A240/A240M, at the option of table manufac-turer.6.2.5 Cleanouts, shall be provided as indicated in Figs. 1-3.6.3 Pedestals:6.3.1 Pedestal quantity and sizes
26、 shall be as specified inTables 1-6 as illustrated in Figs. 1-3. Commercially acceptabletolerances as specified in Specifications A53/A53M, A500,orA501 shall apply to all pedestal dimensions. Pedestals shall beof either welded or seamless construction. The choice of roundor square pedestal shall be
27、at the option of the table manufac-turer. Round pedestals shall be black steel pipe in accordancewith Specification A53/A53M. Square pedestals shall bestructural-steel tubing in accordance with Specifications A500or A501.6.3.2 Table Support Plate, may be either a flanged dishedplate or a flat plate
28、with gussets. If a flat plate and gussets, itshall be of hot-rolled, commercial-quality steel pickled andoiled in accordance with Specification A567/A567M and witha minimum thickness of 7 USSG (0.1793 in. or 5 mm). Fordished plate, it shall be cold-rolled steel sheet of commercialquality in accordan
29、ce with Specification A366/A366M andwith a minimum thickness of 14 USSG (0.0747 in. or 2 mm).6.3.3 Pedestals may be attached to the deck by welding orby attaching to deck socket. Unless specified in the orderingdocument, the method used is at the option of the tablemanufacturer. If round pedestals a
30、nd sleeves are used, provi-sions must be made to ensure that the table will not turn.6.4 Joining:6.4.1 Metal Components, shall be joined by welding orgluing with a structural adhesive as defined in TerminologyD907.6.4.2 Joining shall be adequate to prevent racking duringmanufacture or service.6.4.3
31、Spotwelds, shall be spaced approximately 3 in. (76mm) on centers.6.4.4 Visible Spotwelds, higher than the general surface ofthe adjacent metal, shall be ground smooth.6.4.5 Visible Spotweld Depressions, shall be spot filled andground flush.7. Performance Requirements7.1 Tops for mess tables shall be
32、 capable of supporting aload of 400 lb (181 kg) uniformly distributed over an area of 2ft2(0.12 m2) and placed at any location on the top. Load shallremain on top for a minimum of 3 min, and there shall be noindication of permanent set after removal of load.8. Dimensions8.1 For dimensions of tables
33、and pedestals, see Figs. 1-3 andTables 1-6.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 All workmanship and material shall be of specifiedquality in keeping with the best commercial marine practice soas to produce each item suitable for its intended use.F824 93 (2017)29.2 All exposed burrs, raw, or sha
34、rp edges which might beinjurious to personnel shall be removed.9.3 Depressions considered unacceptable for the productsend use shall be spot filled and sanded flush.9.4 Finish:9.4.1 All steel surfaces, unless corrosion resistant or with acorrosion-resistant plating, shall be painted so as to prevent
