Scope*1.1 This specification covers coextruded poly(vinyl chlo-ride) (PVC) plastic pipe with a cel

3、lular core and concentricinner and outer solid layers, and is produced using a multilayercoextrusion die for nonpressure use in three series: an IPSSchedule 40 series; a PS series with an iron pipe size outsidediameter with varying wall thickness as required for pipestiffness of 25, 50, and 100; and

4、 a sewer and drain series.1.2 The function of this specification is to provide standard-ization of product-technical data and serve as a purchasingguide.1.3 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. The notesand footnotes (excluding

5、 those in tables and figures) shall notbe considered as requirements of the specification.NOTE 1All the pipe series covered by this specification are permittedto be perforated or belled for joining by solvent cement or belled forjoining by an elastomeric seal (gasket). Because this pipe is ODcontrol

6、led, the inside diameter will vary, and therefore, the pipe ID is notsuitable for use as a socket. (For more information see SpecificationD2672.)NOTE 2This standard specifies dimensional, performance and testrequirements for plumbing and fluid handling applications, but does notaddress venting of co

Classification by Appli

25、cation4.1 Coextruded PVC plastic pipe, in an IPS Schedule 40series, is referenced in Table 1 for use in 4.1.1.APS series withan iron pipe outside diameter, with varying wall thickness asrequired for pipe stiffness of 25, 50, and 100 is referenced inTable 2 for use in 4.1.2, and a sewer and drain ser

Material5.1 Material SpecificationThe PVC material shall con-form to the requirements pr

29、escribed in Specification D4396with a cell class of 11432. PVC material, which has a highercell class than those listed, is acceptable.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use only hisown clean rework pipe material conforming with these cellclass requirements. It shall be used only in the core

30、layer if itcontains any residual blowing agent. The pipe produced shallmeet all requirements of this specification.3Withdrawn. Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe shall be homogeneousthroughout and free of visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions,or other defec

The pipe shall be as uniform as commerciallypracticable in color, opacity, density, and other physical prop-erties.6.2 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.2.1 Outside DiameterThe outside diameter and toler-ances for the IPS Schedule 40 series, PS series, and the sewerand drain series shall meet the requ

35、irements of Table 3 whenmeasured in accordance with Test Method D2122. The toler-ances for out-of-roundness shall apply to the pipe prior toshipment.6.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness for the IPSSchedule 40 series shall equal or exceed the minimum dimen-sions in Table 1, and for the PS series an

36、d sewer and drainseries it shall equal or exceed the minimum dimensions inTable 2, when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2122.6.2.3 LengthThe pipe length may be 10 or 20 ft with atolerance on length of +12 , 0 in., unless otherwise specified.6.3 Performance Requirements:6.3.1 Pipe StiffnessTh

37、e minimum pipe stiffness values at5 % deflection when measure in accordance with Test MethodD2412, shall equal or exceed the value in Table 1 for IPSSchedule 40 series, or the value in Table 2 or PS series andsewer and drain series. Three specimens shall be tested. If allthree meet this requirement,

38、 the sample meets this requirement.If one or two fail, additional testing shall be conducted inaccordance with 6.3.1.1. If all three fail, the sample does notmeet the requirement.6.3.1.1 Pipe Stiffness and Lower Confidence LimitIn theevent that one or two of the specimens tested in 6.3.1 fail tomeet

39、 the minimum requirement, the average pipe stiffness of11 specimens shall meet or exceed the minimum requirementgiven in Table 1 for IPS Schedule 40 series pipe, and Table 2for PS Series and Sewer and Drain pipe. The 99 % lowerconfidence limit (LCL) shall be within 15 % of the averagevalue. The LCL

40、shall be calculated using the Students “t”distribution, with N-1 degrees of freedom, where N is thenumber of specimens (11). The critical t value shall be used toat least three significant digits. Alternatively, if the LCLexceeds the minimum PS requirement in the applicable table,but is not within 1

41、5 % of the average, the sample meets therequirements of the pipe stiffness testing. The term “crushing strength” is notapplicable to plastic piping.6.3.2 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of crack-ing, delamination, or rupture when pipe is deflected 60 % ofthe initial inside diameter, when tested in accordanc

49、e with TestMethod D2412. Three specimens shall be tested and all shallpass.NOTE 8This test is intended only for use as a quality control test, andnot as a simulated service test.6.3.3 Impact ResistanceThe minimum impact resistance,when tested at the time of manufacture, shall comply withTable 1 for IPS Schedule 40 series and Table 4 for the PS seriesand sewer and drain series. Test in accordance with TestMethod D2444, using Tup B and Holder B. Use a 20-lb(9.1-kg) tup for testing pipe sizes 4 in. and smaller and a 30-lb(13.6-kg) tup
