Materials and Manufacture4.1 MaterialsBolts shall be manufactured from Alloy2024 and nuts from Alloy 6061 or 6262. The materialschemical composition shall be ca
17、pable of developing themechanical properties required by Table 1, when in the finishedcondition.4.2 Manufacture:4.2.1 FormingUnless otherwise specified, the bolts andnuts shall be cold formed, hot formed, or machined fromsuitable material at the option of the manufacturer.4.2.2 ConditionThe fastener

Chemical Composition5.1 Chemical Composition LimitsThe bolts and nuts shallconform to the requirements as to chemical compositionprescribed in Table 2.5.2 Manufacturers AnalysisWhen test reports are re-quired on the inquiry or purchase order (see 3.1.7
20、), themanufacturer shall furnish a certificate of conformance certi-fying compliance with the chemical limits specified in Table 2.5.3 Product Analysis:5.3.1 Product analyses may be made by the purchaser fromfinished products representing each lot. The chemical compo-sition thus determined shall con
21、form to the requirements inTable 2.5.3.2 In the event of disagreement, a referee chemicalanalysis shall be performed if agreed upon by both parties. Asample as required by Table 3 shall be selected for each lot.Chemical analysis shall be performed to the requirements of13.1 and the result shall conf
22、orm to Table 2.6. Mechanical Properties6.1 BoltsBolts having a length three times the diameter orlonger shall be tested full size as specified in 13.2.2. At themanufacturers option, bolts of less than 3 diameters in lengthmay be tested in full size as specified in 13.2.2. Bolts subjectedto tension t
23、ests shall meet the tensile strength requirementsspecified in Table 1. Bolts of less than 3 diameters in length orfor other reasons cannot be tested full size in tension, shall besubject to a shear test to be performed in accordance with12.2.1. The test results shall conform to the following mini-mu
24、m shear-strength requirements: 37 ksi (255 MPa) for2024-T4.6.2 NutsNuts shall be tested in accordance with themechanical requirements for the applicable type and shall meetthe minimum proof-load requirements in Table 1.7. Significance of Numerical Limits7.1 For purposes of determining compliance wit
25、h the speci-fied limits for requirements of the properties listed in thisspecification, an observed value or calculated value shall berounded in accordance with Practice E29.8. Dimensions8.1 Bolts and Nuts:8.1.1 BoltsBolts shall be full-size body in accordancewith the requirements of AMSE B18.2.1, e
26、xcept the full-bodylength listed in Table 4 shall be the basis of manufacture andinspection. Unless otherwise specified, hex bolts shall befurnished. The ends of the bolts need not be chamfered orpointed.8.1.2 NutsThe dimensions of the nuts shall be in accor-dance with the requirements of ASME B 18.

Number of Tests and Retests11.1 TestsThe requirements of this specification shall bemet in continuous mass production for stock. The manufacturershall make sample inspections, as specified in Table 3,toensure that the produ
33、ct conforms to the specified requirements.When tests of individual shipments are required, Supplemen-tary Requirement S1 must be specified.11.2 Retests:11.2.1 When tested in accordance with the required sam-pling plan, a lot shall be subject to rejection if any of the testspecimens fails to meet the
34、 applicable test requirement.11.2.2 If the failure of a test specimen is due to improperpreparation of the specimen or to incorrect testing technique,the specimen shall be discarded and another specimen substi-tuted.12. Specimen Preparation12.1 Chemical TestsWhen required, samples for chemicalanalys
35、is shall be taken in accordance with Practice E55 bydrilling, sawing, milling, turning, clipping, or other suchmethods capable of producing representative samples.12.2 Mechanical Tests:12.2.1 BoltsMachined shear test specimens, whenrequired, shall be taken in accordance with Test Method B565.12.2.2
36、NutsNuts shall be tested in full section.13. Test Methods13.1 Chemical AnalysisThe chemical composition may bedetermined by any recognized commercial test method. In theevent of disagreement, the following test methods shall be usedfor referee purposes: E34, E101,orE227.13.2 Mechanical:13.2.1 Tests
37、shall be conducted in accordance with TestMethods B565 and F606/F606M.13.2.2 Bolts that can be tested full size shall be tested usingthe wedge tension test specified in Test Methods F606/F606M.Fracture shall be in the body or threaded portion of the boltwithout any failure at the junction of the hea
38、d and body.13.2.3 When machined specimens for shear tests are neces-sary (see Section 6), determine the shear strength on eachsample in accordance with Test Method B565.13.2.4 Nuts shall be proof-load or proof-stress tested asspecified in Test Methods F606/F606M.14. Inspection14.1 When specified on
39、the inquiry or purchase order, theproduct shall be subject to inspection by the purchaser at theplace of manufacture prior to shipment. The inspector repre-senting the purchaser shall have controlled entry only to thoseparts of the manufacturers operations that concern the manu-facturer of the order
40、ed product and only when and where workon the contract of the purchaser is being performed. Themanufacturer shall afford the inspector all reasonable facilitiesto satisfy that the product is being furnished in accordance withthis specification. All inspections and tests shall be conductedso as not t
41、o interfere unnecessarily with the operations of themanufacturer.15. 49、nts.16.2 Test ReportsWhen shipment lot testing in accordancewith Supplementary Requirement S1 is specified in the con-tract or purchase order, the manufacturer shall furnish a testreport showing the results of the mechanical tests for each lotshipped.17.
