3、stainless steel clamps for usewith four sizes of insert fittings that comply with F 1807, andcross-linked polyethylene (PEX) plastic tubing that complieswith F 876 or F 877. These clamps are intended as an alterna-tive to the copper-alloy crimp-rings of Specifications F 1807 orF 2159 for use in 100

4、psi (689.5 kPa) cold- and hot-waterdistribution systems operating at temperatures up to andincluding 180F (82C). Included are requirements for mate-rials, workmanship, dimensions and marking of the stainlesssteel clamps; requirements for deforming the clamps; whichapply to assemblies of PEX tubing a

5、nd Specifications F 1807and F 2159, insert fittings secured with deformed clamps perthis specification.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. Terminology3.1 Definitions are in accordance with Terminology F 412and abbreviations are in accordance with Terminology D 1600,unless otherwise indicated.4. Classifi

11、cation4.1 This specification covers one class of stainless steelclamps in four sizes suitable for securing PEX tubing thatmeets the requirements of Specifications F 876 or F 877 toinsert fittings that meet the requirements of SpecificationsF 1807 and F 2159.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 ClampsClam

12、ps shall be made from material meetingthe requirements of Specification A 240 stainless steel UNSS304000.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee F17 on PlasticPiping Systems and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee F17.10 on Fittings.Current edition approved March 1,

General Requirements6.1 The following sections of Specification F 877 constitutea part of this specification.6.1.1 Requirements,6.

16、1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1 above, appears in this specification, itcontains additional requirements that supplement those appear-ing in Specification F 877.6.3 GeneralAll performance tests shall be p

17、erformed onassemblies of fittings, clamps and PEX tubing. Clamps shallmeet the material and dimensional requirements of this speci-fication. Metal insert fittings shall meet the material anddimensional requirements of Specification F 1807. Plasticinsert fittings shall meet the material and dimension

18、al require-ments of Specification F 2159. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specification F 876 or F 877. Assembly of testspecimens shall be in accordance with 9.1.1. Each assemblyshall contain at least two (2) joints. Use separate sets ofassemblies for each performance test requirement.7. Di

19、mensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances of clamps shall be as shown in Figs. 1-4.8. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The surfaces of the clamps shall be smooth and free offoreign material. Clamps shall be free of cracks, holes, corro-sion, voids, foreign inclusions,

20、or other defects that are visibleto the unaided eye that have potential to affect the clampintegrity.9. Assembly9.1 Clamp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEXtubing by deforming and locking a stainless steel clamp aroundthe outer circumference of the tubing, forcing the tubingmaterial into a

21、nnular spaces formed by the ribs on the fitting.Metal insert fittings shall meet the material and dimensionalrequirements of Specification F 1807. Plastic insert fittingsshall meet the material and dimensional requirements ofSpecification F 2159. PEX tubing shall meet the requirementsof Specificatio

22、ns F 876 or F 877. Clamps shall meet thedimensional and material requirements of this specification.9.1.1 Clamping ProcedureThe clamping procedure shallbe as follows: slide the clamp onto the tubing, insert the ribbedend of the fitting into the end of the tubing until the tubingcontacts the shoulder

23、 of the fitting or tube stop. The clamp shallthen be positioned on the tubing so the edge of the clamp is18to14 in. (3.2 to 6.4 mm) from the end of the tube. Theratcheting clamping tool shall be used to close the clamp. Thetool will not release until the clamp is properly closed.Ratcheting hand tool

24、s shall conform to the dimensional re-quirements of Fig. 3.10. Retest10.1 If any failure occurs, a retest shall be conducted only ifagreed upon between the purchaser and the seller. Failure in theretest indicates the quantity of clamps represented by thesample does not conform to the requirements of

25、 this specifi-cation.11. Product Marking11.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied tothe clamps in such a manner that it remains legible afterinstallation and inspection.11.2 Content of Marking:11.2.1 Marking on clamps shall include manufacturersname or trademark, or some other identifying

26、mark, and if sizepermits, the designation, “F 2098”.11.2.1.1 Where recessed marking is used on clamps, careshall be taken to see that the marking shall not cause cracks orreduce the wall thickness below the minimum specified.11.2.2 Marking on packaging shall include manufacturersname, clamp size, an

27、d “ASTM F 2098 for use with ASTMF 1807 and F 2159 insert fittings.”12. Quality Assurance12.1 When the clamp or clamp packing is marked with theASTM designation “F 2098” the manufacturer affirms that theproduct was manufactured, inspected, sampled, and tested inaccordance with this specification and

28、has been found to meetthe requirements of this specification. The manufacturer furtheraffirms that when clamps so marked are used to in accordancewith this specification to secure PEX tubing conforming toF 876 or F 877 to insert fittings conforming to SpecificationsF 1807 or F 2159, the assembled jo

29、ints will conform to theperformance requirements of this specification.F209808213. Dimensions13.1 Design and Layout, as noted in Fig. 1 are for “refer-ence” only. Specific dimensions and clamp features, other thanwhat is noted in Fig. 2 as “Critical Dimensions” are to be leftat the discretion of the

30、 individual manufacturer to accommo-date varying manufacturing processes.14. Tolerances14.1 Tolerances on all critical dimensions, except “thick-ness” (T), are 6 0.010 in.
