5、 The backbar may be rigid or flexible.3.2.2 climbing sticka device to assist climbing a treeprimarily to a fixed position treestand. A structure that issecured to the tree and allows the user to support his weightand climb to the desired height on the tree.3.2.3 climbing treestanda treestand that pr
6、ovides both themeans to ascend the tree, and allow the user to remain at adesired elevation.3.2.4 handclimber, or climbing aida device to assistclimbing with a climbing treestand. A structure that allows theuser to support his weight when lifting a climbing treestandwith his legs.3.2.5 ladder treest

(The laddertreestand may be secured to the tree at other locations and hassteps that are used to reach the platform or hunting position).3.2.6 non-climbing, fixed position or hang-on treestandatreestand that is

Summary of Practice4.1 This practice provides guidelines for the design andplacement of user labels and warnings on treestands andclimbing sticks, particularly for quality assurance and ad-equacy of safety including:4.1.1 Use of instructions in anticipation of user
11、 error ormisuse.4.1.2 Rated load capacity in accordance with manufactur-ers rating.4.1.3 Availability of instructions in case of their loss.4.1.4 Placement of labels and warnings.4.1.5 Types of labels.4.1.6 Special labels and warnings.5. Significance and Use5.1 This practice is provided to develop a
12、nd maintainuniformity in practices for use, selection, location, placement,and content of labels on treestands and climbing sticks,particularly with regard to quality assurance and safety.5.2 It is emphasized that the use of these practices will notalter the validity of data determined with specific

Procedure6.1 It is recommende
16、d that manufacturers follow the meth-ods of labeling in Specification F 1749 and so described herein.When unusual or special conditions require labels or warningmethods not covered herein, the manufacturer shall be respon-sible for their development to assure adequate information forthe user.6.2 All
17、 labels and warnings shall be clearly understandable,legible, in English, of a size consistent with the space availableto be marked, and able to withstand reasonable exposure to theelements.6.3 Selection of Placement:6.3.1 Labels and warnings shall be placed such that they arevisible to the user whe
18、n mounting the treestand or climbingstick and when it is in use (sitting or standing). The followingplacement locations are recommended for individual units andsituations:6.3.1.1 The top (upper) side of the platform as given in3.2.7.6.3.1.2 Along the top (upper) side of the backbar as given in3.2.1.
19、6.3.1.3 Along the top (upper) side of a flat surface on a mainstructural support member.6.3.1.4 On the top (upper) portion of a component requiringa special label or warning.6.4 Selection of Type of Label or Warning:6.4.1 All materials used shall be able to withstand reason-able exposure to the elem
20、ents.6.4.1.1 For direct mark use, it shall be with permanent ink orpaint, engraved, stamped, embossed, etched or other permanentmeans.6.4.1.2 For tagging (nameplates, stickers, etc.), the tag shallbe secured by mechanical means or by adhesives suitable towithstand reasonable exposure to the elements
21、.Adhesives shallbe resistant to peel off.6.4.1.3 Labels and/or lettering shall be highly visible by useof contrasting and/or bright colors. For example, safety (bright)yellow test on dark background.6.5 Label Content:6.5.1 The minimum information that shall be provided on atreestand label is as foll
22、ows:6.5.1.1 The warning must contain a signal word to alert theuser to potential hazards such as injury or death. The signalword must be “warning,” “caution,” or “danger.”6.5.1.2 The label must contain a phrase that warns to “notuse without a full body harness” or “always wear a full bodyharness.”6.
23、5.1.3 The label must contain a phrase that warns to “notuse before reading instructions” or “read instructions beforeuse.”6.5.1.4 The label must state the rated load capacity orweight limit of the treestand.6.5.1.5 The label must contain the manufacturers name andaddress or name and telephone number
24、.6.5.1.6 Any specific safety information pertinent to a par-ticular model should be printed on the label.6.5.2 It is highly recommended that the label as given in6.5.1.2 be preceded with the word “Warning.”6.5.3 Other information that should be helpful to the user asa label, but could be contained i
25、n the instructions is recom-mended. Example phrases are: “do not modify this product”and “proper maintenance and inspection is required.”7.
