Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions are in accordance with Terminolo

Classification4.1 This specification governs one class of fittings and copper crimp rings suitable for use with nominal size 38, 12 ,34 and 1size PEX tubing that meets the requirements of ASTM Specificat

18、ions F876 or F877and PE-RT tubing that meets the requirementsof Specifications F2623 and F2769.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 MaterialFittings shall be molded from sulfone plastic (SP) as specified in Specification D6394. The material shall beunreinforced polysulfone (group 01, class 1, grades 1 or

19、 2) or polyphenylsulfone (group 03, class 1, grade 1 or 2) or unreinforcedpolyphenylsulfone/polysulfone blends (group 04, Class 1, grade 2) or reworked plastic in accordance with 5.1.1.NOTE 1Since fittings specified by this standard will be used in hot-and-cold water plumbing systems, a material use

20、d to manufacture fittings inaccordance with this specification must demonstrate qualities consistent with that application in addition to the performance requirements of thisspecification. Those qualifying characteristics include, but are not limited to, an established hydrostatic design basis (HDB)

21、 or stress design basis (SDB)in accordance with PPI TR-3 or similar rating and a demonstration of resistance to the long-term effects of those chemicals normally found in potablewater at the maximum temperature stated in this specification.5.1.1 Rework MaterialClean rework material of the same comme

22、rcial designation, generated from the manufacturers ownproduction may be used by the same manufacturer, provided the fittings meet all of the requirements of this specification.Reworked material shall not be introduced at a ratio exceeding 25 %.5.2 Potable Water RequirementsProducts intended for the

23、 transport of potable water shall be evaluated, tested and certifiedfor conformance with ANSI/NSF Standard No. 61 or the health effects portion of ANSI/NSF Standard No. 14 by an acceptablecertifying organization when required by the regulatory authority having jurisdiction.5.3 Crimp RingsCrimp rings

24、 shall be manufactured and marked in accordance with the requirements of Specification F1807.6. Molded Part Properties6.1 Insert CrushThe fitting insert shall not crack, split, or shatter when tested in accordance with 12.1.6.2 SplayThe molded part shall be free of visible splay excepting some sligh

25、t blushing at the gate location.7. Performance Requirements7.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed on assemblies of fittings, crimp rings, and PEX tubing or PE-RT tubing,or both. Fittings and crimp rings shall meet the material and dimensional requirements of this standard. PEX tubing sh

26、all meet therequirements of SpecificationsSpecification F876 or F877. PE-RT tubing shall meet the requirements of Specifications F2623 andF2769. Assembly of test specimens shall be in accordance with Section 10. Use separate sets of assemblies for each performancetest requirement.7.2 Hydrostatic Bur

27、stAssemblies shall meet the minimum hydrostatic burst requirements shown in Table 1, when tested inaccordance with 11.5.7.3 Hydrostatic Sustained Pressure StrengthAssemblies shall meet the hydrostatic sustained pressure requirements shown inTable 2 when tested in accordance with 11.6.7.4 Thermocycli

28、ngAssemblies shall not leak or separate when thermocycled 1000 cycles between the temperatures of 60F(16C) and 180F (82C) when tested in accordance with 11.7.7.5 Excessive Temperature-Pressure Capability:7.5.1 GeneralAssemblies shall have adequate strength to accommodate short-term conditions, 30 da

Dimensions8.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tolerances of fittings shall be as shown in Fig. 1, when measured inaccordance with 11.4.8.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of any opening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.8.

31、1.2 Tapered ThreadsFitting threads shall be American National Standard Taper Pipe Thread Form conforming toSpecification F1498.8.1.3 Straight ThreadsStraight pipe threads, intended for the making of a gasketed seal with taper pipe threads, shall be NPSMand conform to ASME B 1.20.1.9. Workmanship, Fi

32、nish, and Appearance9.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth and free of foreign material. The fitting walls shall be free of cracks, holes,blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects that are visible to the unaided eye and that affect the wall integrity.9.2 Except for the in

33、sert, the molded part shall be free of flash in excess of 0.005 in. Flash, mismatch, and witness markrequirements for the insert shall be in accordance with Fig. 1.10. Assembly10.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEX tubing or PE-RT tubing by the compression of a copper crimp ringarou

34、nd the outer circumference of the tubing forcing the tubing material into annular spaces formed by ribs on the fitting. Insertfittings and crimp rings shall meet the dimensional and material requirements of this standard. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specifications F876 or F877. PE-RT tu

35、bing shall meet the requirements of Specifications F2623 and F2769. Thedimensions and out-of-roundness of the crimp ring after it has been crimped shall be in accordance with Table 3.10.1.1 Crimping ProcedureTo affix the insert fitting to the tubing with the crimp ring, the crimping procedure shall

36、be asfollows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, insert the ribbed end of the fitting into the end of the tubing until the tubing contactsthe shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. The crimp ring shall then be positioned on the tubing so the edge of the crimp ring is 18in. to 14 in. (3.2 to 6.4 mm

37、) from the end of the tube. The jaws of the crimping tool shall be centered over the crimp ring and thetool shall be held so that the crimping jaws are approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barb. The jaws of the crimping toolshall be closed around the crimp ring, compressing the crimp ring

38、onto the tubing. The crimp ring shall not be crimped more thanonce. Each crimp shall be checked to determine conformance to the after crimped dimensional requirements of Table 3.11. Test Methods11.1 ConditioningCondition specimens at 73 6 4F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity for not less than

39、 4 h priorto testing. Test Method D618 shall be used to the extent possible as a guide to other conditions.11.2 Test ConditionsConduct the tests in the standard laboratory atmosphere at 73 6 4F (23 6 2C) and 5065 % relativehumidity unless otherwise specified in the test methods or in this specificat

43、 the fittings, crimp rings, and PEX tubing sufficient to determine conformance with thisspecification shall be taken at random.11.4 DimensionsAny randomly selected fitting or fittings and crimp ring or crimp rings shall be used to determine dimensions.Measurements shall be made in accordance with Te

44、st Method D2122. Determine the diameters by making measurements at fourlocations spaced at approximately 45 apart around the circumference.11.5 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressure in accordance with Test Method D1599 on at least six assembliesfor each temperature in Table 1. Leakage o

45、r separation at any of the joints tested, or from the fitting itself, at less than the minimumburst requirements for the temperatures specified in Table 1 shall constitute a failure in this test.11.6 Sustained Hydrostatic PressurePerform the test on at least six assemblies in accordance with Test Me

46、thod D1598, exceptfor the following:11.6.1 Test temperature shall be 180 6 4F (82 6 2C).11.6.2 The external test environment shall be air or water.11.6.3 Fill the specimens with water at a temperature of at least 120F (50C).11.6.4 Leakage or separation at any joint tested at less than 1000 h at the

47、sustained pressure as given in Table 2 shall constitutefailure in this test.11.7 Thermocycling:11.7.1 Summary of Test MethodThis test method describes a pass-fail test for thermally cycling assemblies comprised of insertfitting, crimp ring, and PEX tubing over a critical temperature range for a sele

48、cted number of cycles while subjected to an internalpressure.The test provides a measure of resistance to failure due to the combined effects of differential thermal expansion and creepof connections intended for use up to and including 180F (82C).11.7.2 ApparatusA pressure source capable of maintai

49、ning an internal pressure of 100 6 10 psi (690 6 69 kPa) on thespecimens is required. An immersion system shall consist of two water reservoirs controlled at 60 6 4F (16 6 2C) and 180 64F (82 6 2C) into which the pressurized specimens will be immersed. Either samples are cycled manually using flexibleconnectors or alternately the hot and cold water is cycled over the test specimens automatically and returned to the proper reservoir(Note 2).NOTE 2Automatic recycling may be accomplished by pumping f
