Connector Gender Assignment3.1 The male connector is that connector which is config-ured as part of the CO2control valve or compressed airregulator
8、 for use with a paintball marker.3.2 The female connector is that connector which is config-ured as part of the DOT approved cylinder.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The male connector shall be made from materials thatare compatible with CO2, compressed air or gaseous nitrogen.4.2 The O-ring seal sh
9、all be made from an elastomercompatible with CO2, compressed air or gaseous nitrogen usedto power paintball markers. The O-ring seal shall have ahardness that will register a Type A durometer reading ofbetween 70 to 90 6 5. The O-ring shall conform dimensionallyto the requirements in AMS7277 or MS28

15、sions C and D on Fig. 1.4.4 The male connectors shall not have any sharp edges orhanging burrs. All sharp edges will be broken R.38 MAX(R.015 MAX).4.5 The male connector shall have a gas passage allowingthe contents of the bottle to flow at a rate not less than 170sL/min at 689 kPa (6 S.C.F.M. at 10
16、0 psid).4.6 This male connector is most commonly used in paintballmarker propellant applications in conjunction with Specifica-tion F1750.5. Performance Requirements5.1 The male threaded connector is intended for use withCO2, compressed air, or gaseous nitrogen, or a combinationthereof.5.2 The male
17、threaded connector shall have a straight threadwith at least the number of engaged threads as shown in Table1, a tight fit and a factor of safety in shear of at least 10 at thetest pressure of the cylinder. The test pressure for a cylinder isspecified in DOT 49 CFR 178 or DOT CFFC 4th Revision.Shear
18、 stress must be calculated by using the appropriate threadshear area in accordance with NBS Handbook H-28.5.3 The male threaded connector may incorporate a unifiedrupture disk manufactured and tested in accordance with DOT49 CFR 173.301 and CGA S-1.1, as well as meeting Specifi-cation F2030. In a ca
19、se where the male connector does notincorporate a unified rupture disk the cylinder shall contain thisdevice.5.4 When installed in an approved cylinder the male con-nector will require a minimum removal torque of 18 lbfft.5.5 The male threaded connector will be of a design suchthat if it is removed
20、at a speed of 20 rpm from a fully chargedpaintball cylinder at SAP, with the cylinder being oriented at adownward angle of 45, the contents of the cylinder will ventwith a resultant g load at impact of the cylinder to a fixedsensor at a distance of 2 ft, of no more than a like full cylinderallowed t
21、o drop unaided the same distance.
