Scope1.1 This specification covers acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) pipe produced by single extrusion in standard thermo-p

3、lastic pipe dimension ratios and pressure rated for water (seeAppendix X1). Included are criteria for classifyingABS plasticpipe materials and ABS plastic pipe, a system of nomenclaturefor ABS plastic pipe, and requirements and test methods formaterials, workmanship, dimensions, sustained pressure,

4、burstpressure, and extrusion quality. Methods of marking are alsogiven.1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids, which arechemically compatible with the piping materials. Consult withthe manufacturer and local building codes befo

5、re use in otherapplications. Due to inherent hazards associated with testingcomponents and systems with compressed air or other com-pressed gases some manufacturers do not allow pneumatictesting of their products. Consult with specific product/component manufacturers for their specific testing proce

6、duresprior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 1Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy, which present serious safetyhazards should a system fail for any reason.NOTE 2This specification addresses only pipe for use in above groundservice. For buried service

7、consult the manufacturer and local buildingcodes.NOTE 3Exposure to ultraviolet radiation over a long period of timemay affect the physical properties of ABS pipe. Consult the manufacturerfor recommendations for handling, storage, and installations that are notprotected by insulation.1.3 Pipe meeting

8、 the requirements of this standard are notcompatible with IPS sized DWV fittings. The ABS pipecovered in this standard is intended for pressure service and itshall be joined to pressure fittings. Non-pressure fittings, suchas DWV fittings from any material (ABS, PVC, CPVC, etc.),are not acceptable f

9、or pressure applications.1.4 UnitsThe values stated in SI units are to be regardedas standard. No other units of measurement are included in thisstandard.1.5 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes, which provide explanatory material. The abbreviation foracrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic is ABS.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.

19、3 acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) pipe and fittingplasticsplastics containing polymers or blends of polymers,or both, in which the minimum butadiene content is 6 %, theminimum acrylonitrile content is 15 %, the minimum styreneor substituted styrene content, or both, is 15 %, and themaximum con

20、tent of all other monomers is not more than 5 %,and lubricants, stabilizers, and colorants.3.4 mominal outside diameter (dn)specified outside di-ameter of a component, which is identical to the minimummean outside diameter, in millimeters3.5 pressure rating (PR)numerical designation used forreferenc

Materials4.1 GeneralAcrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene

23、plastics usedto make pipe meeting the requirements of this specification arecategorized by means of two criteria namely (1) short-termtests and (2) long-term strength tests.4.2 Basic MaterialsThe material properties of the gradeof ABS plastic are characterized using short-term tests asdefined in Spe

24、cification D3965.4.3 Hydrostatic Design Basis (HDB)This specificationcovers pipe made from material, which has been evaluated inaccordance with Test Method D2837 where a pressure testingis carried out in accordance with Test Method D1598 to findthe HDB value. The HDB shall be a minimum of 17.2 MPa.4

25、.4 CompoundTheABS plastic extrusion compound shallmeet the requirements of ABS Classes 42222, 20643, or 30444as described in Specification D3965.4.5 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own clean rework pipe material and the pipe producedshall meet all the requirements of this specif

26、ication.5. Pipe Classification5.1 GeneralThis specification covers ABS pipe producedby single extrusion.5.2 Standard Dimension Ratios (SDR)This specificationcovers ABS pipe in eight standard dimension ratios. These areSDR 9, 11, 13.5, 17, 21, 26, 32.5, and SDR 41. The pressurerating is uniform for a

27、ll nominal pipe sizes for a given ABSpipe material and SDR.6. Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe shall be homogeneousthroughout and free of visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions,or other defects. The pipe shall be as uniform as commerciallypracticable in color, opacity, density, and other physi

28、cal prop-erties.6.2 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.2.1 Outside DiametersThe outside diameters and toler-ances and out-of-roundness shall be as shown in Table 1 whenmeasured in accordance with 7.4 and 7.4.1.6.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thicknesses and tolerancesshall be as shown in Table 2 when measured

29、 in accordancewith 7.4 and 7.4.2.6.3 Sustained PressureThe pipe shall not fail, balloon,burst, or weep as defined in ISO 1167 at the test pressuresgiven in Table 3 when tested in accordance with 7.5.6.4 Burst PressureThe minimum burst pressures for ABSplastic pipe shall be the pressure rating (PR) m

30、ultiplied by afactor of 3.2, when determined in accordance with 7.6.6.5 Impact The pipe shall meet the impact requirementswhen tested in accordance with 7.7.7. Test Methods7.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 23 62C and 50 6 5 % relative humidity for not less than 40 h priorto test in acc

31、ordance with Procedure A of Practice D618 forthose tests where conditioning is required.7.2 Test ConditionsConduct the tests in the StandardLaboratory Atmosphere of 23 6 2C and 50 6 5 % relativehumidity, unless otherwise specified in the test methods or inthis specification.7.3 Test SpecimensNot les

32、s than 50 % of the test speci-mens required for any pressure test shall have at least a part ofthe marking in their central sections. The central section is thatportion of pipe, which is at least one pipe diameter away froman end closure.7.4 Dimensions and TolerancesUse any length of pipe todetermin

33、e the dimensions. Measure in accordance with TestMethod D2122.7.4.1 Outside DiameterMeasure the outside diameter andout-of-roundness of the pipe in accordance with Test MethodD2122. Test individually with water at the stress levels,temperatures, and times given in Table 3, each specimen shallbe at least ten times the nominal diameter in leng

46、th, but not lessthan 250 mm or more than 920 mm between end closures andshall bear the permanent marking on the pipe. Hold thepressure as closely as possible, but within 670 kPa. Conditionthe specimens at the test temperature to within 62C. Maintainthe test temperature at 20 6 2C. Test in accordance

47、 withISO 1167.7.6 Burst PressureFor each diameter, determine the mini-mum burst pressure with at least five specimens in accordancewith ISO 1167. The time of testing each specimen shall bebetween 60 and 70 s. The average minimum burst pressureshall not be less than 3.2 times the pressure rating, PR.

48、7.7 Impact ResistanceWhen tested in accordance withISO 3127 at 0 C, pipe shall have a true impact rate (TIR) ofnot more than 10 % when using the weights and heights givenin Table 4.8. Retest and Rejection8.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the test(s)

49、 shall be conducted again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and the seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed, or modified, nor shall specification limits be changed.If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product repre-sented by the test(s) does not meet the requirements of thisspecification.9. Marking9.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied tothe pipe in such a manner that it remains legible (easily read)after installation and inspection.9.2 Marking on the pipe shall
