、ITY AND TRANSLATION REQUIREMENTS . 17 9 APPENDIX B . 17 3 1 General The NGIIF ISDN Ad Hoc Committee developed the tests included in this document. They are intended to be used as a recommended set of Interconnection Tests between Access Service Providers (ASP) and Access Service Customers (ASC) to a

、ssure that the SS7 interconnection between an ASP and an ASC can be used to support ISDN-Basic Rate services. Tests to be performed will be based on bi-lateral agreements. Although not specified in the tests, verification of AMA records should be performed to assure proper billing. The tests in this

、 document are divided into two categories, Test Set Generated (TSG) and Call Through. TSG tests require the capability to direct ISUP messages toward the network interface under test and to send and detect tones on interconnected trunks. Call-through tests can be executed by manual calling in conjun

、ction with monitoring of SS7 links. The tests outlined in this document have been developed with concern for the ongoing integrity and reliability of existing services. Therefore, these tests have been deemed to have no negative impact on the network during the application of such tests. 2 Purpose T

、o ensure that the interconnected ASPs and ASCs can exchange the appropriate protocol messages for Basic Rate ISDN services in a way that provides the desired level of Quality Assurance and identifies adherence/deviations from industry standards. Appendix A provides a list of facility and switch tran

The following message types are impacted by ISDN: Call Progress Message Confusion Message Address Complete Message Initial Address Message Answer Message Releas

、e Message The subsections below describe the ISDN impacts. 3.1 Call Progress Message (CPG) This is a new SS7 message introduced by ISDN. It is sent by the terminating switch in the following two cases: To report ALERTing (after ISDN/T303 expiration) on the access To report clearing with inband tone.

、 3.2 Confusion Message (CFN) This is the other new message introduced by ISDN and it is not expected in normal call processing, rather it is sent by a switch in response to any ISUP message (other than a confusion message), when the switch does not recognize the message or detects part of a message

、as being unrecognized. 3.3 Address Complete Message (ACM) Differences due to ISDN are in the cause indicators and optional backward call indicators parameters. Codings will be verified in normal and abnormal call processing situations (see Sections 4.2 and 4.3). Cause Indicators Parameter Cause valu

、party number is either “not screened or “failed screening,“ both the CPN and GAP should be included in the IAM. The user-provided calling party number should be included inthe GAP. A network-provided number should be included in the CPN. New codings for the CPN for ISDN are as follows: Screening Ind

、 Access Transport Parameter Whether or not this parameter is passed to the interconnecting network (ICN) is dependent on translations. Its value is not affected by call processing for testing in conjunction with basic rate access. 3.5 Answer Message (ANM) Backward Call Indicators Parameter Bits DC s

A recommended sub-set of call-through tests may be found in appendix B. 4.1.1 Normal Calls Audible ringing will be detected for speech and 3.1-kHz calls and tones or data test patterns will be passed to verify
