ATIS-0800

13、038 ii FOREWORD The Alliance for Telecommunication Industry Solutions (ATIS) serves the public through improved understanding between carriers, customers, and manufacturers. The IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF) develops requirements, standards, and specifications that will determine the industrys e

14、nd-to-end solution for Internet Protocol Television (IPTV). The mandatory requirements are designated by the word shall and recommendations by the word should. Where both a mandatory requirement and a recommendation are specified for the same criterion, the recommendation represents a goal currently

15、 identifiable as having distinct compatibility or performance advantages. The word may denotes a optional capability that could augment the standard. The standard is fully functional without the incorporation of this optional capability. Suggestions for improvement of this document are welcome. They

22、ealized that common guidelines were needed for the development of XML Schemas and management of namespaces. ATIS has created standards pertaining to the format of namespaces and XML schemas. This document defines their use by the ATIS IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF) for XML schema development. 1.2

23、 Objective This document defines the use of the ATIS XML Schema Development and Namespace Format to be used by the ATIS IIF Committees. 1.3 Audience This document targets individuals working on ATIS IIF initiatives. It is assumed that the reader has a working knowledge of W3C XML Schema and the XML

24、language. 1.4 Scope The document covers XML Schema design, coding and issues regarding evolution and compatibility of successive Schema versions. 2 REFERENCES The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this ATIS Standard. No new definitions are introduced within this document. 4 SCHEMA DEVELOPMENT INFORMATIVE Please refer to section 3 of ATIS-I-0000002 2 for an informative

30、description of XML schema development. 5 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SCHEMA DEVELOPERS - NORMATIVE 5.1 Namespace Format The authoring committee shall utilize the ATIS namespace format and guidelines as defined in ATIS-I-0000001, Format of ATIS Namespace, whereby the shall be either “ServiceDelivery/IPTV” or

31、 “TrustManagement/IPTV”. The aspect shall contain the subject of the schema and the schema major version. For example: http:/www.atis.org/ServiceDelivery/IPTV/schema o Where is a value to be determined by the authoring Committee that does not collide with previously used names. 2This document is ava

The authoring committee shall not modify a published schema without an update to the parent standard document. 5.2 XML Schema Design Recommendations The authoring committee should follow th

33、e guidelines defined in ATIS-I-000002 2 sections 4.2 and 4.3. The authoring committee should create shared schemas whenever feasible. 6 SCHEMA MANAGEMENT NORMATIVE The authoring committee should follow the guidelines defined in ATIS-I-000002 2, section 5. 7 ONLINE PUBLICATION OF THE SCHEMA - NORMATI

34、VE It is not anticipated that the schemas will be published through an ATIS URL. 8 COMPLIANCE - NORMATIVE Compliance to the mandatory schema guidelines is required for approval of a schema definition by the ATIS Committee. Recommendations are expected to be followed unless there is a specific reason

35、 to do otherwise in a specific case. The review process of a proposed schema definition will apply both requirements and recommendations specified in this document. 9 LEGAL NOTICES - NORMATIVE All legal notices are to be inserted at the start of all XML Schema files. The ATIS administrative staff is responsible for inserting all legal notices. The author of the XML Schema should not insert such legal notices.
