46、10 11J-STD-038-B 0-vii Foreword 1 This foreword is not part of this standard. 2 This standard addresses the interworking and interoperability between ANSI-41 MAP and GSM 3 based networks in the support of subscribers roaming between networks. The objective of the 4 standard is to achieve fully autom

47、atic, two-way interoperability between the heterogeneous 5 networks. Services supported by this standard are described along with the associated 6 information flows and message mappings. However, not all services and associated capabilities 7 of ANSI-41 MAP and GSM MAP are supported by this standard

48、. In general the attempt has been 8 to focus on the key subscriber services needed in the market. 9 The focus of the first release of this standard was on common GSM and ANSI-136 TDMA 10 services and associated network signaling (i.e. ANSI-41 MAP and GSM MAP). A prerequisite for 11 this interoperabi

49、lity is multi-mode mobile stations with an enhanced SIM card for roaming 12 between ANSI-136, GSM, and AMPS networks. 13 The first release of the standard did not define or require changes to existing ANSI-41 MAP or 14 GSM MAP to achieve the described interworking and interoperability. However, due to 15 differences between the services and associated capabilities of the MAP protocols, complete and 16 fully transparent interoperability may not have been achieved for some services. Future releases 17 of this standard may require changes to ANSI-41 MAP
