7、S D15.2/D15.2M:2013iiiStatement on the Use of American Welding Society StandardsAll standards (codes, specifications, recommended practices, methods, classifications, and guides) of the AmericanWelding Society (AWS) are voluntary consensus standards that have been developed in accordance with the ru

8、les of theAmerican National Standards Institute (ANSI). When AWS American National Standards are either incorporated in, ormade part of, documents that are included in federal or state laws and regulations, or the regulations of other governmen-tal bodies, their provisions carry the full legal autho

9、rity of the statute. In such cases, any changes in those AWS standardsmust be approved by the governmental body having statutory jurisdiction before they can become a part of those laws andregulations. In all cases, these standards carry the full legal authority of the contract or other document tha

10、t invokes theAWS standards. Where this contractual relationship exists, changes in or deviations from requirements of an AWS stan-dard must be by agreement between the contracting parties.AWS American National Standards are developed through a consensus standards development process that bringstoget

11、her volunteers representing varied viewpoints and interests to achieve consensus. While AWS administers theprocess and establishes rules to promote fairness in the development of consensus, it does not independently test, evalu-ate, or verify the accuracy of any information or the soundness of any j

It was developed and is maintained by

35、 the Subcommittee on Track Weldingwithin the AWS Committee on Railroad Welding.The welding of rails and related rail components for use by rail vehicles is vital to the safe and economical operation ofAmerican railroads. This subcommittee has endeavored to develop these recommended practices to serv

36、e as a guidelinefor the railroad and related industries in the establishment of track welding specifications. The subcommittee is made upof individuals from all segments of the railroad industry, both users and suppliers, and representatives of both theAssociation of American Railroads and the Ameri

37、can Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association.The purpose of this document is to provide a single comprehensive source of information that will be used throughout therailroad industry. It should act as a guideline towards improving welding quality through the economical joining andrepai
