3、ATIONAL TESTS Three locks shall be tested for each test in Sections 9.8 through 9.12 and failure of one in any category shall constitute failure of the complete test. 8.1 Dead Bolt Torque 8.1.1 Torque to retract dead bolt or torque to retract dead bolt and latch bolt by turn. A torque meter shall be

4、 applied to the turn and slowly rotated until the bolt or bolts clear the strike without contact. The maximum measured torque to retract the bolts shall not exceed the maximum specified. Requirements Maximum All Grades 9 lbf-in. (1 Nm) 8.1.2 Torque to retract dead bolt or torque to retract dead bolt

5、 and latch bolt by key. A torque meter shall be applied to the key and slowly rotated until the bolt or bolts clear the strike without contact. The maximum measured torque to retract the bolts shall not exceed the maximum specified. Requirements Maximum All Grades 9 lbf-in. (1 Nm) 8.2 Force or Torqu

6、e to Retract Latch Bolt or Latch Bolt and Dead Bolt 8.2.1 Knob or lever A torque meter shall be applied to the outside lever or knob to slowly rotate lever in a downward direction or rotate knob in a clockwise direction until the latch bolt clears the strike. When the knob is unidirectional, test on

7、ly in the direction of operation. The maximum measured torque to retract the latch bolt shall not exceed the maximum specified. Requirements Maximum Knobs - All Grades 9 lbf-in. (1Nm), Levers - All Grades 28 lbf-in. (3.1 Nm) Repeat 8.2.1 to the outside knob in a counterclockwise direction retracting

8、 the latch bolt. 20 Requirements. Maximum All Grades 9 lbf-in. (1 Nm) Repeat 8.2.1 to the inside lever or knob retracting dead bolt or latch bolt or both. Requirements. Maximum Knobs - All Grades 14 lbf-in. (1.6 Nm) Levers - All Grades 28 lbf-in. (3.1 Nm) Repeat 8.2.1 to the inside knob in a counter

9、clockwise direction retracting dead bolt or latch bolt or both. Requirements. Maximum All Grades 14 lbf-in. (1.6 Nm) 8.2.2 Entry handleset thumb piece. Apply a load at a point 1/4 in. (6.4 mm)1/32 in.(.8mm) from the end of the thumb piece until the latch bolt clears the strike. Center punch the thum

10、b piece to receive a pointed rod connected to a load gauge (see figure 5). The maximum load to retract the latch bolt shall not exceed the value specified. Requirements. Maximum All Grades 9 lbf (40N) 8.2.3 Paddle. A force meter shall be applied to the outside paddle in the direction of the opening

11、swing of the door 1 in. (25.4mm)1/32 in. (.8mm) from the free end of the paddle on the centerline retracting the dead bolt or latch bolt or both. A force meter shall be applied perpendicular to the face of the door to a point 1 in. (25.4 mm)1/16 in. (1.6mm) from the lock edge of the door and on

13、the center line of the latch bolt when the door is open just within 1/4 in. (6.4 mm) of the latch bolt contacting the lip of the strike. Close the door slowly by pushing the force meter against the door until the latch bolt fully enters the strike opening. The maximum measured force to fully latch t

14、he door shall not exceed the value specified. Requirements Maximum All Grades 4.5 lbf (20 N) 8.4 Torque to Retract Latch Bolt by Key 21 8.4.1 A torque meter shall be applied to the key and slowly rotated until the latch bolt clears the strike. The maximum measured torque to retract the latch bolt sh

15、all not exceed the maximum specified. 8.4.2 Repeat 8.4.1 in the opposite direction (when the lock construction permits operation in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions). Requirements. Maximum All Grades 9 lbf-in. (1 Nm) 8.5 Minimum Projection of Latch Bolt when depressed to dead latched p

16、osition. Depress the auxiliary dead latch and then depress the latch bolt to the deadlocked position. Measure the projection of the depressed latch bolt from the centerline of the lock front to the end of the latch bolt. The measured projection shall not be less than the minimum specified: Requireme

17、nts. Minimum Grade 1 9/16 in. (14.3 mm) Grade 2 and 3 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) 8.6 Minimum Projection of Auxiliary Dead Latch to Deadlock Latch Bolt. Depress the auxiliary dead latch slowly and test the latch bolt for the start of the deadlocking action. Measure the projection of the depressed auxiliary dea

18、d latch from the centerline of the lock front to the end of auxiliary dead latch at the point of the first effective deadlocking. The measured projection shall not be less than the minimum specified: Requirements Minimum Grade 1 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) Grade 2 and 3 5/16 in. (7.9 mm) 8.7 Warped Door Test T

19、orque to Retract Preloaded Bolt (Warped Door) A 50 lbf (222 N) force is applied perpendicular to the door at a point 1 in. (25.4 mm) from the lock edge of the door and on the center line of the bolt. The 50 lbf (222 N) shall load the bolt against the strike in the direction of opening the door and b

20、e sustained throughout the test. Breakage or other failure constitutes failure of the test. Failure of the trim also results in failure of the test. The maximum measured torque to retract the dead bolt or dead bolt and latch bolt to clear the strike without contact shall not exceed the value specifi

21、ed. 8.7.1 For Keys, Turns, Knobs or Levers, a torque measuring device shall be applied and slowly rotated until the bolt is withdrawn to within 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) of the lock front. The maximum measured torque shall not exceed the maximum specified below. For keys, does not apply to functions where th

22、e lever, knob, or paddle, after it is unlocked by key, can be operated to retract the latch bolt. 8.7.2 Lever, or Knob. A torque meter shall be applied to the outside lever or knob to slowly rotate the lever in a downward direction or rotate knob in a clockwise direction. The maximum measured force

23、shall not exceed the value specified in 8.7.5. When the knob is unidirectional, only test in the direction of operation. 8.7.2.1 Repeat 8.7.2 to the outside knob in a counterclockwise direction with the test applicable to the latch bolt or dead bolt or both. 8.7.2.2 Repeat 8.7.2 to the inside lever

24、downward or the knob in a clockwise direction with the test applicable to the latch bolt or dead bolt or both. 22 8.7.2.3 Repeat 8.7.2 to the inside knob in a counterclockwise direction with the test applicable to the latch bolt or dead bolt or both. 8.7.3 Entry Handleset Thumb Piece Apply a force g

25、uage at a point in. (6.4mm) 1/16 in. (1.6mm) from the end of the thumb piece until the latch bolt clears the strike the strike without contact. The maximum measured force shall not exceed the value specified. 8.7.4 For Paddles, a force meter shall be applied to the paddle in the direction of the ope

26、ning swing of the door 1 in. (25.4 mm) from the free end of the paddle on the centerline until the bolt is withdrawn to within 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) of the lock front. The maximum measured force shall not exceed the maximum specified below. 8.7.4.1 Repeat 8.7.4 to the inside paddle. Requirements Maximum

CYCLE TESTS Three locks shall be tested and a failure of one in any test shall constitute a failure of the cycle test. 9.1 The locks shall meet the r

28、equirements of 8.1 through 8.7 and shall be installed in the mechanically operated test door. 9.2 Locks with knobs that operate in both directions shall be operated in a clockwise direction for 25% of the cycles and in a counterclockwise direction for the next 25% of the cycles alternately until the

29、 total requirement of paragraph 9.4 has been met. Locks with levers or unidirectional knobs shall be operated in one direction only. Test entry handlesets using an entry handleset cycle mount test fixture which depresses the thumbpiece. The test door shall be operated at a rate not to exceed 30 cycl

30、es per minute for levers or knobs and a rate not to exceed 10 cycles per minute for locks with thumb pieces. Where agreed upon by the manufacturer and lab, the cycle rate may be increased pending verification that all cycling aspects are maintained. Locks with levers shall be operated at 2 in. (51 m

31、m) minimum from the lever spindle in the direction of door opening. 9.3 Locks with paddles are permitted to be tested from either the push or the pull side for the entire test. Test locks with paddles using cycle mount test fixture for paddles. The fixture shall be operated at a rate of 30 cycles pe

32、r minute maximum. 9.4 Cycle Requirements Grade 1 Grades 2 and 3 1,000,000 800,000 9.5 At 50% of the Cycle Test, repeat Operational Tests 8.1 through 8.7. 36、umber and Descriptions. 10. STRENGTH TESTS 10.0 General Criteria Perform all of the strength tests in order on each of the three samples then perform the qualification tests in 10.7. Use the lockset tension test apparatus in 7.5.4. The lock shall remain in the same mount and not be repositioned or a

37、djusted throughout the strength tests. Failure occurs if the door opens, or at the end of the testing, the qualification requirements are exceeded. 10.1 Locked Outside Lever or Knob Torque Test Apply the required torque load to the locked lever or knob. Repeat in the opposite direction for knobs onl

38、y. This test is to assure lock operation and security are maintained following application of a moderate force. Exception: If torque cannot be reached because of security design features and the lock remains locked after torque has been applied, the qualification test requirements of 11.7 shall stil

39、l be met. Requirements All Grades minimum Levers 450 lbf-in. (50 Nm) Knobs 300 lbf-in. (34 Nm) 10.2 Axial Load Test 10.2.1 Lever or knob Apply a force meter to the outside lever or knob at the spindle axis perpendicular to the face of the door to load the latch bolt against the strike to the load sp

40、ecified. Repeat to the inside lever or knob. 10.2.2 Lever Apply a force meter to the outside lever 2 in. (51 mm) 1/16 in from the spindle axis perpendicular to the face of the door to load the latch bolt against the strike to the load specified. 10.2.3 For entry handleset, perform 10.2.1 to locked o

41、utside thumb piece to the requirements specified. 10.2.4 Paddle Apply a load dynamometer to the outside paddle at the axle and 2 in. (51 mm) from the pivoting axle perpendicular to the face of the door to load the door against the stop to the load specified. Any trim limiting access to the axle may

43、 Vertical Load Test 10.3.1 Apply a force meter vertically to the outside lever, knob or paddle. The paddles shall be tested, one mounted in the horizontal position and a second in the vertical position. Apply the load at 1 1/2 in. (38mm) 1/16 in. (1.6 mm) from the face of the door or the equivalent

44、bending moment perpendicular to the paddle in the vertical position, lever or knob axis to the load specified in 9.10.1.2. With the paddle in the horizontal position, the load or the equivalent bending moment shall be applied parallel to the paddle axle. Repeat to the inside lever, knob or paddle. R

(25.4 mm) 1/16 in. (1.6 mm) from the lock edge of the door and on the centerline of the latch bolt in the direction of

47、opening the door while the bolt is still engaged in the strike. The loading shall be gradually increased to the load specified. The strike fixture of Figure 2 shall be used. Failure of the strikes, fasteners, or bolts is cause for failure. No readjustment of the lockset is permitted following applic

48、ation of force. Requirements All Grades Latch Bolt minimum 1,200 lbf (5,300 N) 10.4.2 When testing a lock with a dead bolt function, repeat 10.4.1 to the dead bolt only, shimming the full profile of the deadbolt enough to ensure the load is applied to the deadbolt, not the latch. When required by fu

49、nction, the latch bolt shall be held retracted or removed from the assembly. Requirements. All Grades Dead Bolt minimum 1,350 lbf (6,000 N) 10.5 Unlocked Outside Lever or Knob Torque Test Apply a torque to the unlocked outside lever and repeat to the inside lever.
