5、 of the Plastics Standards Committee, and is identical with ISO171:1980 “Plastics Determination of bulk factor of moulding materials”, published by the International Organization for Standardization(ISO). The method is technically similar to, and supersedes method501C of BS2782:1970, which is withdr
6、awn. Terminology and conventions. The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is especially drawn to the follow
7、ing. The symbol has been used throughout for density. In British Standards it is current practice to use the symbol for density. Wherever the words “International Standard” appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as “British Standard”. NOTEThe BSI Committee responsible for this stand

15、lication This International Standard specifies a method of determining the bulk factor of a moulding material from its apparent density in the unmoulded form and its density in the moulded form. Knowledge of the bulk factor of a moulding material is of value as a basis for the calculation of minimum

18、o its volume in the moulded form NOTEIt follows that it is also the ratio of the density of the material in its moulded form to its apparent density in the unmoulded form. 4 Test temperature The determinations of density and apparent density for calculation of the bulk factor shall be made at one of
19、 the test temperatures specified in ISO554. 5 Procedure 5.1 Determine the apparent density of the material in its unmoulded form in accordance with ISO60 or ISO61. 5.2 Determine the density of the material in its moulded form in accordance with ISO/R1183. 6 Expression of results The bulk factor is g
20、iven by the equation NOTEIn the calculation of bulk factor, the density of moulded material, in grams per millilitre, may be taken to be numerically equal to its specific gravity(relative density with water as the reference substance). 7 Test report The test report shall include the following partic
21、ulars: a) reference to this International Standard; b) complete identification of the material tested; c) the test temperature; d) the apparent density of the moulding material; e) the density of the material in its moulded form; f) the bulk factor. where is the bulk factor; m is the density of the
