This British Standard shall be used in conjunction with the relevant sections
7、of the latest issue of BS S 100 as follows: 1.2 Sulphur printing or deep etching tests. One sample shall be taken from each end of each ingot for sulphur printing or deep etching tests. 1.3 Ultrasonic examination. Billets and bars and, where practicable, forgings shall be subjected to ultrasonic exa
8、mination. 2 Manufacture The material shall be manufactured by consumable electrode vacuum arc remelting. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The material shall be overall dressed. 10、0.40 0.60 Nickel 3.5 4.5BS2S146:1976 2 BSI 01-2000 5 Condition 5.1 The material shall be supplied in the appropriate condition stated below: 5.2 Parts shall be supplied finally heat treated. 6 Heat treatment 6.1 Softening treatment. The softening treatment shall consist of heating uniformly at a tem
11、perature of not less than 630 C. 6.2 Final heat treatment. The final heat treatment shall consist of the following: a) Hardening. Heat at a temperature of 875 10 C, followed by cooling in still air, followed immediately by b). b) Sub-zero treatment. Hold at a temperature between70 C and80 C for not
12、less than 2 h. c) Tempering. Heat uniformly at a temperature between180 C and220 C, followed by cooling in air. 7 Mechanical properties 7.1 Tensile test at room temperature and impact test 7.1.1 Except as provided in 7.1.2, the mechanical properties obtained from test pieces, heat treated at test pi
13、ece size, shall be as follows: 7.1.2 Alternatively to 7.1.1, the mechanical properties obtained from transverse test pieces, heat treated at test piece size, shall be as follows: NOTEInformation on SI units is given in BS 3763 “The International System of units (SI)” and BS 350 “Conversion factors a
14、nd tables”. 7.2 Hardness test 7.2.1 The hardness of material heat treated in accordance with 6.1 shall be not greater than302 HB. 7.2.2 The hardness of material, parts and test samples heat treated in accordance with 6.2 shall be not less than 530 HV.
