7、99 BS 4172-1:1999 Foreword This part of BS 4172 has been prepared by Technical Committee C11/49. It supersedes BS 4172-1:1993 which is withdrawn. The principal changes from the 1993 edition are the addition of references to recent legislation affecting the packaging of the dispensers and revision of
8、 terminology to improve conformity with that used in related agricultural and horticultural applications (e.g. “efficiency” is replaced with “performance”). A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their
9、 correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. 11、ot to be confused with third party certification of conformity, which may also be desirable. 1 Scope This part of BS 4172 specifies requirements for the insecticidal performance and marking of hand-held pressurized aerosol dispensers (hereafter referred to as “dispensers”) for domestic, indoor use a
12、s space treatments against houseflies. It does not apply to metered-valve and total-release dispensers. NOTE General requirements, for example those covering the materials and construction of non-refillable metal aerosol dispensers, are specified in BS 3914. 2 Normative references The following norm

15、 BS 4172-2:1998, discharged at the dosage rate recommended on the product label or by the manufacturer, and employing the conformity criteria target values A = 0.176 (for log 10 KT 50 ) and B=1 08(for arcsin 24 h knockdown), the insecticidal performance of the candidate shall be rated as “not worse”
16、 than that of the reference dispenser. NOTE A full explanation of A and B is given in BS 4172-2:1998. Examples of results are given in Table 1.
