、9 Foreword This Part of BS 4215, prepared under the direction of the Welding Standards Committee, is based on ISO5829:1984, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It differs from the International Standard in specifying material that complies with BS4577 rather than I
、SO5182, since the requirements for softening temperature in BS4577 are generally more stringent than those in ISO5182. This British Standard is being revised in several Parts and supersedes BS4215:1967, which is withdrawn. Most of the Parts will be identical with or based on International Standards
、but, in instances where the UnitedKingdom was unable to give a vote of approval to the International Standard, a corresponding British Standard will be prepared, where possible, taking account of the reasons for disapproval. A further Part will also be published in due course, specifying electrodes,
、 electrode holders and ancillary equipment of interest in the UK only. The following Parts of BS4215 have been published to date: Part 1: Withdrawn (superseded by BS EN25183-1:1992 and BS EN25183-2:1992); Part 2: Specification for straight resistance spot welding electrodes; Part 3: Withdrawn (super

、9: Withdrawn (superseded by BS EN 25183-1:1992); Part 10: Withdrawn (superseded by BS EN 25183-2:1992); Part 11: Withdrawn (superseded by BS EN 28430-1:1992); Part 12: Withdrawn (superseded by BS EN 28430-2:1992); Part 13: Withdrawn (superseded by BS EN 28430-3:1992); Part 14: Withdrawn (superseded
、by BS EN 29313:1992); Part 15: Specification for insulated pins for use in electrode back-ups. The text of ISO 5829:1984 has been used for ease of production of this Part of BS4215, although some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is
、 drawn especially to the following. The comma has been used as a decimal marker. In British Standards it is current practice to use a full point on the baseline as the decimal marker. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standard
