10、BS4737-3.12:1978 ii BSI 12-1998 Foreword This revision of BS 4737 has been prepared under the direction of the Electronic Equipment Standards Committee to reflect the technical advances in the industry since the publication of the 1971 edition. It takes account of AmendmentNo.1,1972 (AMD1064) and of

11、 Amendment No.2,1973 (AMD1218). It is being published in a number of separate Sections, as follows. Part 1: Requirements for systems with audible signalling only; Section 1.1: Installation; Section 1.2: Maintenance and records. Part 2: Requirements for systems with remote signalling; Section 2.1: In

12、stallation; Section 2.2: Maintenance and records. Part 3: Requirements for detection devices, consisting of a number of separate Sections(3.1to3.14). The specifications for detection devices (including this Section of BS4737) are to be read in conjunction with Section1.1 or Section2.1, as appropriat

15、998 1 1 Scope This British Standard specifies the general requirements for beam interruption detectors to be used in intruder alarm systems in buildings. 2 References The titles of the standards publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 3 Definition For the purpo

16、ses of this British Standard, the following definition applies in addition to those given in BS4737-1.1 and/or BS 4737-2.1. beam interruption detector. a detection device designed to generate an alarm condition when a beam of radiation between a transmitter and a receiver is completely interrupted.

17、4 Range and beam angle requirements 4.1 Range. The range shall be the greatest separation between the transmitter and the receiver at which an alarm condition is not generated as a result of a 50% reduction in the power level of the signal received. 4.2 Beam angle. The manufacturer shall state both

18、the dimensions of the transmitted beam over which the receiver will satisfy4.1 and the polar diagram of the receiver. 5 Signal processing The detector shall generate an alarm condition of at least 800ms duration as a result of the complete interruption of the signal received for any period longer th

19、an 40ms. The detector shall not generate an alarm condition as a result of the complete interruption of the signal received for any period shorter than 20ms. 6 Modulation The detector shall incorporate some method of modulation such that the introduction of an unmodulated source of wavelength compar

20、able with that of the transmitter shall not prevent an alarm condition being generated or shall generate an alarm condition. 7 Power supply An alarm condition shall be generated if the voltage of the power supply to the detector is reduced sufficiently to impair the performance of the detector. 8 En

21、vironment The requirements of this British Standard shall be met by the detector under any combination of the following environmental conditions. 9 Interference The detector shall be adequately protected against any externally-generated radio-frequency interference and/or mains-borne interference wh

22、ich may normally be expected to occur within the working environment. 10 Anti-tamper device The detector shall be so designed that opening its container by the normal means of access shall operate an anti-tamper device.
