Sodium fluoride is toxic and is irritant, particularly in the form of dust. Carry out operations involving its use in a fu

This British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Chemicals Standards Committee in order to provide methods for the analysis of sodium fluoride for indus
10、trial use. For some years the UnitedKingdom has participated in the work of preparing methods of test applicable to this material, organized by Subcommittee7 (formerly WG8), Aluminium oxide and related compounds, of Technical Committee47, Chemistry, of the International Organization for Standardizat
11、ion (ISO). As international agreement is reached on the methods, it is proposed to publish them as Parts of this British Standard. This Part is identical with ISO3428 “Sodium fluoride for industrial use Preparation and storage of test samples”. Terminology and conventions. The text of the Internatio
12、nal Standard has been approved as suitable for publication, without deviation, as a British Standard. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is especially drawn to the following. The comma has been used as a decimal marker. In Briti
13、sh Standards, it is current practice to use a full point on the baseline as the decimal marker. Where the words “International Standard” appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as “British Standard”. 14、072-1, BS5072-2 and BS5072-3 respectively, and for ISO565 the related British Standard is BS410. At present there is no British Standard corresponding to ISO . . . . (clause2.1). 15、d clause1 of ISO3429, ISO3430, ISO3431, ISO3566 and ISO4278 (see the Annex ) state that the sodium fluoride is “primarily used for the production of aluminium”. This is incorrect, at least for the UnitedKingdom. This has been brought to the attention of ISO Technical Committee47, in a proposal to am
16、end the International Standards concerned. Additional information. This standard prescribes methods of test only, and should not be used or quoted as a specification defining limits of purity. Reference to the standard should indicate that the methods of test comply with the requirements of BS5072-4

21、9 1 1 Scope and field of application This International Standard specifies methods for preparation and storage of test samples in the natural state (crude) and dried samples, of sodium fluoride for industrial use. 2 Preparation of test samples 2.1 Laboratory sample For the preparation of the laborat
22、ory sample, use the method specified in ISO . . . 2) . 2.2 Crude sample, intended for the determination of moisture content Take about300g of the laboratory sample and place in a tightly closed container of capacity such that it is almost filled by the sample. 2.3 Dried sample, intended for chemical
23、 tests 2.3.1 Principle Grinding and sieving of the sample until it passes completely through a sieve of mesh aperture0,125mm (see ISO565). Mixing and drying. 2.3.2 Apparatus Ordinary laboratory apparatus and 2.3.2.1 Sieve, of mesh aperture0,125mm, constructed of a material which will not introduce t
24、he impurity to be determined. NOTEThe sieve material should be chosen in relation to the impurity to be determined. 2.3.2.2 Mortar, of corundum or agate. 2.3.2.3 Electric oven, capable of being controlled at110 2 C. 2.3.3 Procedure Sieve about100g of the laboratory sample through the sieve (2.3.2.1)
25、. Grind the residue in the mortar(2.3.2.2) and sieve again. Add to the previously sieved portion and thoroughly mix. Repeat the operations of grinding, sieving and mixing until there is no residue left on the sieve. Place the sample thus prepared in a platinum dish and dry in the oven (2.3.2.3), con
26、trolled at110 2 C, for at least2h. Withdraw the dish from the oven and allow to cool in a desiccator. Store the dried sample in a tightly closed container of such capacity that it is almost filled by the sample. 3 Marking The containers shall carry a label showing: a) the name of the product; b) the
