16、of practice, this part of BS 5410 takes the form of guidance andrecommendations. It should not be quoted as if it were a specification andparticular care should be taken to ensure that claims of compliance are notmisleading.Any user claiming compliance with this part of BS 5410 is expected to be abl

17、e tojustify any course of action that deviates from its recommendations.It has been assumed in the preparation of this part of BS 5410 that theexecution of its provisions will be entrusted to appropriately qualified andexperienced people, for whose use it has been produced.Presentational conventions

24、llation, commissioning and maintenance of oil burning installations upto 45 kW output capacity for space heating and hot water supply purposes. Italso gives recommendations and guidance on the selection and installation of oiltanks of capacity up to 3 500 L, when installed at buildings used primaril

25、y asdwellings. The standard is also applicable to oil fired cookers where these areconnected to flues. This part of BS 5410 is not applicable to oil fired systems formarine and transportable installations, or for flueless heaters.This part of BS 5410 is applicable to installations burning liquid fue

26、l conformingto BS 2869:2010+A1, including biofuels conforming to BS EN 14214, and blendsthereof.This standard is intended for use by designers, specifiers, installers, and serviceand commissioning engineers.NOTE 1 The types of appliances and burners covered by this part of BS 5410 aredescribed in An

44、from the burner installation4 Liquid fuels4.1 Types of liquid fuelLiquid fuel conforming to an appropriate class specified in BS 2869:2010+A1,and biofuels conforming to BS EN 14214, as specified by the equipmentmanufacturer, should be used with the equipment covered by this standard.The specifier of

45、 the installation and the user should consult the local authorityregarding any local controls which might limit the types of liquid fuel that maybe used.4.2 Liquid fuel characteristicsUsers should obtain information on the typical characteristics of the fuelsupplied, and advice on the safe storage a

46、nd handling of this, from their fuelsupplier.A safety data sheet should also be obtained from the fuel supplier or from thefuel producer.NOTE Attention is drawn to the Control of Substances Hazardous to HealthRegulations 16 regarding the information that the safety data sheet is required tocontain.5

47、 Installation of oil fired appliances5.1 GeneralNOTE 1 The initial installation and replacement of oil fired appliances is workcovered by the Building Regulations 2, 3, 4.This type of work should be undertaken by competent technicians, subject tosupervision by either a registration body or the local

48、 authority building controldepartment.NOTE 2 In England and Wales, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, if a personregistered with an approved scheme is used for such work then it is not requiredthat application is made to the local authority building control department forapproval prior to the wor
