General 1 Scope This British Standard specifies the materials, quality, design and dimensions of vitreous china bowl urinals (rimless type) of two sizes, seeTable 1. 2 References The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside bac
14、k cover. 3 Marking Bowl urinals manufactured to the requirements of this standard shall be clearly and permanently marked with the following information. a) The manufacturers name or trade mark. b) The number of this British Standard, i.e.BS5520. 4 Inspection The purchaser or his representative shal
15、l, if required, be granted facilities for the purpose of inspection of finished goods prior to delivery. 5 Rejection The purchaser shall have the option of rejecting any article purporting to comply with the requirements of this standard if it fails to meet any of those requirements. Minor imperfect
16、ions which do not affect the appearance or efficiency of the bowl urinal shall not constitute a valid reason for rejection. Section 2. Materials, quality and design 6 Materials and quality Bowl urinals shall be manufactured from vitreous china complying with the requirements of BS3402. 7 Design Bowl
17、 urinals shall conform to the dimensions and permissible deviations given inTable 1 and illustrated inFigure 1. The bowls shall be suitable for use with a top supply spreader or shall be provided with a back inlet spreader. (See reference letter B Table 1.) The bowl shall be without flushing rim and
18、 overflow. All surfaces which will be exposed after fixing shall be glazed and shall be free from ridges, crevices and inaccessible cavities which might collect dirt and lime scale and/or inhibit cleaning. The bowl shall be so constructed that when fixed in its correct upright position it shall empt
19、y by gravity, completely. The bowl urinal shall be designed to operate with cisterns made to the requirements of BS1876, without splashing. 8 Fixings and support The bowl urinal shall be provided with adequate means of support, preferably of the concealed type. Manufacturers shall supply details of
