A wide range of cleaning and pol

、ishing cloths is in use for different applications. BS7033 specifies requirements for a limited range of cloths suitable for cleaning and polishing applications and is being published in five Parts as follows: Part 1: Specification for optical polishing cloths for use on transparent plastics panels;

、 Part 2: Specification for industrial wipers from reclaimed materials, and waste yarn for cleaning and lubricating purposes; Part 3: Specification for floorcloths and dishcloths; Part 4: Specification for window cleaning cloths 1) ; Part 5: Specification for general polishing cloths 1) . In this Par

、t requirements are specified for wipers made from reclaimed materials used for general industrial wiping purposes and for cellulosic waste yarn used for cleaning purposes and in the lubrication of bearings. Many properties cannot be specified objectively and cannot therefore be included in this stan

、dard. Examples of such properties include colour, handle, appearance and details of additional design features. Public sector purchasing authorities may be able to supply standard patterns which cover these properties and serve to resolve any ambiguities of description. The standard only covers the

、basic description of the products and their construction and performance requirements. Purchasing authorities therefore may need to include additional information. Appendix A gives a method for measuring the percentage of light, medium and heavy wipers in a batch. Supplementary information for MOD c

、ontracts is provided in Appendix B with cross-reference information between the following: a) item references used in this Part of BS7033; b) NATO stock numbers; c) MOD descriptions and pattern numbers. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users

、of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. In particular, attention is drawn to Statutory Instrument1986 No.26, the Textile Products (Indications of Fibre Content) Regulations1986.

、Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pagesi andii, pages1 to4, an inside back cover and a back cover. The sample shall be drawn in small quantities of approximately500g from different sections of the batch to give a total sample of approximately3kg. For the purposes of

、 moisture content determination, a representative sub-sample of approximately25g shall be placed in an airtight container immediately after selection. A further representative sub-sample shall be drawn from the sample for the determination of cleanliness. 6.2 Conditioning of specimens Specimens shal

、l be conditioned for a minimum of24h and tested in the standard temperate atmosphere for testing textiles as defined in BS1051, i.e.a relative humidity (r.h.) of652% and a temperature of20 2 C. In the event of dispute, samples shall be preconditioned for4h in a relative humidity not exceeding10% at

、a temperature not greater than50 C before being exposed to the standard temperate atmosphere for testing of textiles. 6.3 Testing 6.3.1 Wipers. Samples of wipers taken in accordance with6.1 shall be tested for compliance with Table 1 and clause3. All the tests shall be carried out on each sample. 6.

、3.2 Waste yarn. Samples of yarn taken in accordance with6.1 shall be tested for compliance with the appropriate requirements of Table 2 and clause4. All the tests shall be carried out on each sample. 7 Marking Each package shall bear the following information: a) the name, trademark, or other means

、of identification of the manufacturer; b) the number and date of this British Standard, i.e.BS7033-2:1989 3)and the appropriate item reference for the wiper or waste yarn; c) the month and year of manufacture; d) the net mass in the case of waste yarn, calculated in accordance with BS4784-1 with the

、 moisture allowance as given in Table 1. NOTEIn addition, each package should bear such markings as the contract or order may direct. 3) Marking BS7033-2:1989 on or in relation to a product represents a manufacturers declaration of conformity, i.e.a claim by or on behalf of the manufacturer that the

、 product meets the requirements of the standard. The accuracy of the claim is therefore solely the responsibility of the person making the claim. Such a declaration is not to be confused with third party certification of conformity, which may also be desirable.BS7033-2:1989 4 BSI 10-1999 Appendix A

、Determination of percentage light, medium and heavy wipers From the representative sample as defined in6.1 randomly select a sub-sample of20wipers. Determine the mass of each wiper in accordance with method5 of BS2471 except that a complete wiper shall be weighed as opposed to a15cm 15cm sample. Cal

、culate the total mass of the20wipers. Determine the mass per unit area of each wiper in accordance with method5 of BS2471 except that one sample only shall be taken from each wiper. Categorize the wipers in terms of light, medium and heavy as defined in3.5 of this Part of BS7033 and calculate the to
