8、at the request of the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association, supported by the British Aerosol Manufacturers Association. This British Standard specifies only the dimensions of three-piece aerosol cans. Constructional and performance requirements are specified in BS3914 which also includes requir

Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from l

This standard has been updated (see copyright date) and may have had amendments incorporated. This will be indicated in the amendment tabl

NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in th

The limits of tolerance shall be as shown in Figure
14、1. NOTECylindrical straight-sided aerosol cans of65mm diameter may be fitted with either low or high profile top ends. Dimensions for both types are given in Table 1. 3.2 Necked-in cans The dimensions shall be as given in Table 2 and shown in Figure 2. The limits of tolerance shall be as shown in Fi
15、gure 2. 3.3 Measurement of dimensions 3.3.1 Diameters and heights Diameters and heights, other than those related to the aperture, shall be determined as described in BS6966-3. 3.3.2 Dimensions related to the aperture 3.3.2.1 Diameters The outside diameter of the curl shall be measured at three poin
16、ts, at60 intervals around the circumference and the arithmetic mean of the three values shall be used to check compliance. The internal diameter shall be similarly measured at three points and the arithmetic mean used to check compliance. 3.3.2.2 Contact height The contact height shall be measured a

The points of reference for the measurement are two datum lines, one horizontal in the plane of the top of the curl and the other vertical and tangential to the curl profile (see Figure 3). The
18、measuring gauge shall be so designed that when the main body of the gauge is aligned with the horizontal datum line, a ball of1.5mm radius is maintained in an accurately fixed relationship to the vertical datum line, i.e.offset by0.35mm (seeFigure 3). The ball shall be lightly spring loaded so that
19、it maintains contact with the underside of the curl when the gauge is in position. The measuring gauge shall have a means of registering the distance from the centre of the ball to the horizontal datum line, i.e.the contact height. 1) For information on the availability of suitable measuring gauges
