It also sets o
18、ut the information relating to user payload to be included in the users handbook. It applies to all categories of caravan as defined in EN 13878. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. 20、finitions For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in EN 13878:2003 and the following apply. 3.1 maximum technically permissible laden mass mass of the vehicle which takes into account operating conditions including factors such as the strength of materials, loading capacit
21、y of the tyres, etc., and which is stated by the vehicle manufacturer 3.2 registration mass mass of the vehicle declared by the manufacturer at type approval for registration; this mass shall not exceed the mass according to 3.1, if the requirements specified in clause 5 of this standard are met 3.3
22、 mass of the caravan in running order mass of the unladen caravan with bodywork in running order (see clause 4), tools, spare wheel (if any); it also includes the essential habitation equipment (see 3.5) 3.4 user payload difference between the maximum technically permissible laden mass (see 3.1) or
23、the registration mass (see 3.2), if this mass differs from the mass according to 3.1, and the mass of the caravan in running order (see 3.3) 3.5 essential habitation equipment items required for the safe and proper functioning of the equipment for habitation as defined by the manufacturer of the car

25、ptional equipment items made available by the manufacturer over and above the standard specification for the caravan 4 Mass of the caravan in running order 4.1 General The mass of any item shall not be included more than once. The manufacturer shall ensure that all manufacturing tolerances for weigh
26、t fluctuations shall be allowed to be within the mass of the vehicle in running order. 4.2 Essential habitation equipment The essential habitation equipment shall include the following items, as appropriate, in the state given: a) Installation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) system: 1) mass of the
27、recommended cylinder(s) or tank(s) when filled to 100 % of their nominal capacity; 2) number of cylinders to be considered are those that can be connected to the regulator(s) installed by the manufacturer. b) Mass of the liquids in: 1) fresh water storage and heating system full; 2) central heating
28、system full; 3) waste water tank empty; 4) toilet flushing tank full; 5) toilet waste holding tank empty; 6) essential fluids for the use of any other items of standard equipment full. c) Electrical supply 1) allowance of 4 kg for the low voltage (LV) connection cable; 2) mass of the auxiliary batte
29、ry(s), if provided or when provision has been included. 5 Calculation of user payload 5.1 General The user payload is the result of the addition of the masses for personal effects and optional equipment. 5.2 Personal effects Personal effects are typically items common to all occupants such as food,

31、cupant such as clothing, footwear, bedding, books, cameras, toys and toiletries. Bicycles, boats, sail boards, sports equipment, etc. are also included whether carried on racks or otherwise. The mass allowance M, for personal effects, in kilograms, for a caravan shall be calculated from the followin
32、g formula: 301010 += lnM (1) where l is the overall length of the caravan in metres, excluding draw gear as given in ISO 612:1978, 6.1.2; n is the sum of all standard and optional berths. NOTE It is essential that despite permitted tolerances in the mass in running order the personal effects allowan
33、ce is not eroded below either 100 kg or as calculated in 5.2, whichever is the lower. 5.3 Optional equipment The manufacturer shall specify the mass of each item of optional equipment offered including the mass of any fluids required for its safe and proper functioning. NOTE Examples for optional eq
34、uipment offered are air conditioning, bicycle rack. 6 Users handbook 6.1 Information on masses The manufacturer shall state in the Caravan users handbook the following information including the definitions: a) maximum technically permissible laden mass and registration mass, in kilograms; b) mass of
35、 the vehicle in running order, in kilograms; c) mass of the user payload, in kilograms; d) mass of the essential habitation equipment, in kilograms. e) mass of the optional equipment, in kilograms; f) mass of the personal effects, in kilograms. 6.2 Information about load spread The manufacturer shal
36、l provide information and general principles related to the correct distribution of the various loads. 6.3 Regulatory and safety advice The manufacturer shall also include the following statements in the users handbook: a) PLEASE TAKE CARE TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE ALLOWED FOR THE MASSES OF ALL ITEMS
