Unless otherwise specified, nails with flat smooth circular heads, plain shanks and diamond points shall be supplied.Page 11 EN 10230-1:1999 BSI 01-2000 6 Requirements 6.1 Materials and manufacture Nails shall be produced from wire drawn from rods produced in accordance with EN 1
10、0016 Parts 1 to 4. Nails produced in accordance with this European Standard shall not be subjected to heat treatment after fabrication except for that incurred during surface coating. Where heat treatment is applied after fabrication the purchaser shall be informed. 6.2 Surface coating The surface o
11、f the wire nails shall comply with one of the following: a) Uncoated. The surface of the nails shall be free from rust; b) Zinc coated or zinc alloy coated, with a minimum zinc purity of 98,5 % in the outer surface of the coating, by one of the following alternatives: 1) Hot dipped to provide a mini
12、mum coating of 300 g/m 2 at an Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) of 10 %; 2) Barrel coated to provide a minimum coating of 300 g/m 2at an AQL of 10 % of nails with nominal characteristic dimensions greater than 2.6 mm; 3) Electroplated zinc coatings in accordance with ISO 2081; 4) Other zinc or zinc al
13、loy coating methods such as sheradizing or mechanical zinc plating as agreed between purchaser and supplier. c) Lacquered, cement coated or phosphate coated. 6.3 Form and dimensions The form and preferred dimensions are given in tables 1 to 12. NOTE Other lengths having incremental steps usually of
14、5 mm are possible subject to agreement between purchaser and supplier. 6.3.1 Nail point The following types of nail points shall be used: diamond point; diamond point offset; round point; chisel point; cut point. 6.3.2 Nail shank The following forms of nail shank shall be used: plain shank; indented

Nominal nail characteristic dimensions for indented, spiral rolled and ring rolled shanks are as for plain shank. 6.3.3 Nail head The top surface
16、 of the nail head shall be smooth or chequered. NOTE The top surface of the head may be marked by using raised or sunken letters, signs or numbers. The following types of head shall be used: circular flat head; countersunk head; lost round head; lost oval head; brad oval head; flat countersunk; cup
17、head; spring head; washer head; clout head 7 Tolerances 7.1 Length, l The tolerance on the nail length shall be 0,5 d. 7.2 Nominal characteristic dimension, d The tolerance on the nominal characteristic dimension applies to the nail shank before coating. The nominal characteristic dimension toleranc
18、es on nails shall be T1 of EN 102182. 7.3 Head diameter, d h The tolerance on the head diameter of nails shall be 0,05 d hwith a minimum of 0,2 mm.Page 13 EN 10230-1:1999 BSI 01-2000 8 Sampling and testing The manufacturer, is responsible for the control of product quality by the application of stat
19、istical methods of sampling and analysis of results with AQL values as agreed between purchaser and supplier. When required by the purchaser the coating weight of nails shall be tested in accordance with the gravimetric method in prEN 10244-1 and prEN 10244-2. The total area shall be taken as (total
20、 shank area + 2 (head area). 9 Inspection and documentation Unless otherwise agreed at the time of the order, non specific testing and inspection documentation shall be provided according to the requirements of EN 10021 and EN 10204. 10 Packaging and labelling Nails are usually supplied packaged in
21、cartons by net weight or by an approximate number of nails. The label or text on the package shall give the following: number of this European Standard i.e. EN 10230-1; type; length and nominal characteristic dimension; surface coating; weight or approximate number of nails; manufacturer.Page 14 EN
