30、thecheckingof thetypeofalloycoatingonthewire. 5.3Porosity 5.3.1Principle Copperandcopperalloyscoveringthesteelprovideagoodprotectionagainstchemicalattack. Thereforeporositiesinthecoating,leavingthebaresteelincontactwiththeoutsideatmosphere,are weakpointsagainstcorrosion. Theporositytestisdesignedtog
31、iveanindicationofthequalityofthecoatingandthedegreeof porosityofthematerial.Thisisachievedbyimmersingasampleofthecoatedwireinasolutionof dilutedhydrochloricacid.Indoingso,theacidcomingincontactwiththebaresteelsurfacewill dissolvetheiron. 5.3.2 Determinationoftheporosity Bendsamplesof30cmlongsothatth
32、eycaneasilybeimmersedinarecipientof1litre.Inthecase ofwireofasize0,50mmorfineruseacontinuouslengthof2mwoundtoacoilofabout10cm diameter.
