25、gthofsamples Thelengthofthesamplesshallbesufficienttoallowthevariousteststobecarriedout. 5.2 Determinationofmassofcoating 5.2.1General Themassofthecoatingshallbedeterminedbyfirststrippingthecoating.Thentheamountofcoating isdeterminedbymeasuringthedifferenceinweight(gravimetricmethod)beforeandafterst

26、rippingor bydeterminingchemicallytheamountofcoatinginthestrippingsolution.Thesamplelengthshallbe inaccordancewithTable1inEN102444. 5.2.2Gravimetric method 5.2.2.1 Procedurefordeterminingthecoatingmass Ifnecessary,degreasethesamplewithasuitablesolvent.Weighthesampletoanaccuracyof0,1mg (mass m 1 ).Pag

29、ingsolution,itispossibletodeterminetheamountofcoatinginthe solutionafterstripping,whichenablesthedeterminationofthemassofcoatingdissolvedandhence themassofcoatingperunitofsurfacearea.Thiscanbedonebytheatomicabsorptionspectrometer, bycolorimetryoranyotherappropriatemethod.Someofthesemethodsalsopermit

30、thecheckingof thetypeofalloycoatingonthewire. 5.3Porosity 5.3.1Principle Copperandcopperalloyscoveringthesteelprovideagoodprotectionagainstchemicalattack. Thereforeporositiesinthecoating,leavingthebaresteelincontactwiththeoutsideatmosphere,are weakpointsagainstcorrosion. Theporositytestisdesignedtog

31、iveanindicationofthequalityofthecoatingandthedegreeof porosityofthematerial.Thisisachievedbyimmersingasampleofthecoatedwireinasolutionof dilutedhydrochloricacid.Indoingso,theacidcomingincontactwiththebaresteelsurfacewill dissolvetheiron. 5.3.2 Determinationoftheporosity Bendsamplesof30cmlongsothatth

32、eycaneasilybeimmersedinarecipientof1litre.Inthecase ofwireofasize0,50mmorfineruseacontinuouslengthof2mwoundtoacoilofabout10cm diameter. Degreasethesampleswithasuitableorganicsolvent,dryfor10minat75C,cooltoambient temperatureandweighto0,1mgprecision( m 1 ing).Coverthecutendsofthesamplewitha protectiv
