14、asshown,aresuitableformeasuringthe viscosityofawiderangeofadhesives: rotationalviscometermethod; coneandplateviscometermethod; fallingballviscometermethod; glasscapillaryviscometermethod; flowcupmethod; pressurisedextrusionmethod. Thisstandarddoesnotintendtodescribeequipment,whichisuniquetoonemanufa

15、cturer,ratheritdescribes generictypesofviscometer.Theinstrumentsdescribedoperateonverydifferentprinciplesmakingitinadvisableto compareresultsfromonetypeofviscometerwiththosefromanother.However,resultsfromdifferentinstruments ofthesametypeshouldbecomparable. NOTE1Somemodernviscometersincorporateinteg

16、ratedelectronicmeasuringdevicesandhaveahighdegreeofautomation. Theuserwillnotnecessarilyhaveaccessto(orneedtoknow)fulldetailsofaninstrumentsmeasuringsystems.However,all viscometersarecapableofbeingcalibratedand,toconformtothisstandard,theviscometerusedshouldbecalibratedinthe appropriateviscosityrang

17、ebeforeatest.Certifiedcalibrationfluidsshouldbeusedforthispurposeandevidenceofcalibra tion givenwiththetestresults. 24、thetypesandrequirementsoftheadhesivesused. ForNewtonianliquidswithviscositybelow10Pas,themethoddescribedin6.5ispreferred.Thealternative methodsaregivenin6.4and6.6. ForNewtonianliquidswithaviscosityhigherthan10Pas,themethodsdescribedin6.2and6.7arepreferred. FornonNewtonianliquidsthemethoddescribedin6

25、.3ispreferred.Themethodgivenin6.2canalsobeused. NOTE Newtonianliquidoridealliquidisdefinedasaliquidcharacterizedbyaconstantvaluefortheshearstressdividedby therateofshearinsimpleshearflowandwithzeronormalstressdifferences. NonNewtonianliquidornonidealliquidisdefinedasaliquidnotexhibitingNewtonianbeha

26、viour. 5Safety Personsusingthisstandardshallbefamiliarwithnormallaboratorypractice. Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse. Itistheresponsibilityoftheusertoestablishhealthandsafetypracticesandtoensurecompliancewithany Europeanandnationalregulatorycondition

27、s. 6Test methods 6.1General Alltheproceduresdescribedinthefollowingtestmethodsshallbecarriedoutinduplicate.Thedifferencebetween thevaluesoftwoconsecutivetestsshallbelessthan5%andlessthan3%forthetestmethoddescribedin6.2,in particular.Ifthisisnotthecase,furthertestsshallbecarriedoutuntilthisrequiremen

29、ation.Factors,whichdependonthespeedofrotationandthe characteristicsofthespindle,areappliedtothetorsionalresistancemeasurementresultinginanestimateofthe coefficientofviscosity. ThemethodisoftenappliedtononNewtonianfluidsandtheviscositymeasureddependsontherateofshear. Adetaileddescriptionoftheapparatu

30、stobeusedandfurtherdetailsofthismethodaregiveninENISO2555and ENISO3219. 6.2.2 Procedure 6.2.2.1 Preparetheadhesiveinaccordancewiththemanuacturersinstructions.Unlessotherwisespecified,takea sampleoftheadhesiveinaccordancewithEN1066andexamineandprepareitinaccordancewithEN1067. 6.2.2.2Setup,calibratean

31、doperatetheviscometerinaccordancewiththemanufacturersinstructions.Spindles andspeedsshallbechosensuchthattheinstrumentreadingisintherangeof20%to95%ofthefullscalevalue. 6.2.2.3 Ensurethatthetemperatureofthetestspecimeniswithintheprescribedlimits.Unlessotherwisespecified, thetemperatureofthetestspecim

32、enshallbemaintainedat(23 0,5)C.Heatorcoolthecontainerholdingthetest specimenbyimmersioninathermostaticallycontrolledbath.Specialattachmentsareusuallyavailablefortesting hotmeltadhesives. 6.2.2.4 Startthemotorandleavethespindleturningintheadhesiveuntilasteadyvalueisrecorded.Insomefluids thereadingoft

33、heinstrumentwillnotsettle,butwillcontinuetodrift.Insuchcases,recordthereadingaftera specifictime. 6.2.2.5Stopthemotor,waituntilthespindlehasstopped,thenrestartthemotorandtakeasecondmeasurement. 6.2.2.6 Repeattheprocessdescribedin6.2.2.5untiltwoconsecutivereadingsdifferbynomorethan3%.Takethe averageo

34、fthesetwovalues. 6.2.2.7Aftereachdetermination,removethespindlefromtheapplianceandwashitcarefullyintheappropriate solvent. 6.2.3Expressionofresults Calculatetheestimateofviscositybythemethodprescribedbythemanufactureroftheviscometer. ExpresstheresulttothreesignificantfiguresinunitsofPasorinmPasasapp

Ifrequired,plotthecharacteristicviscosity/shearratecurvefortheadhesive. 6.2.4Testreport Thetestreportshallcontain,atleast,thefollowinginformation: a)referencetothisEuropeanStandard; b)identificationoftheproducttestedincludingdetailsofanymixingorotherpreparationscarriedout; c)thetesttempera
