29、fthetestspecimenbymachiningorcuttingtobetween20mmand25mm,takingcare duringthisoperationthatthestructureofthematerialisnotalteredandthetestspecimenremainsas representativeaspossibleoftheinstalledsportssurface; b) wherethematerialcarriesasurfacetexture,embossorgranularfinish,preparetheuppersurfaceand

NOTE Preparationoftheundersideofthetestspecimentoremoveirregularitiesisnecessary,forexample,wherea onceliquidsystemhasbeenremovedfromatexturedorporoussubstrate. Afterpreparation,measurethethicknessofeachtestspecimenusingthethicknessgauge(5.2)anda measureme
31、ntforceofbetween0,8Nand1,0N. Measurethethicknessofthetestpieceataminimumoffivepositionsalongtheextensometergaugelengthand calculatetheaveragethicknesstothenearest0,1mm.Ifanyonereadingdiffersfromtheaveragethicknessby morethan5%oftheaveragevalue,discardthetestspecimen. 6.2Preparationandconditioning 6.
32、2.1 Removeanysurfaceembossorgranulartexturefromthetwoparallelsurfacesoftheextensometergauge length,toenablethethicknessofthetestspecimentobemeasured,bygrindingtheirregularsurfacewithabrasive paper,grain60,untilapeaktovalleyheightof(0,50,1)mmisachieved,or50%ofthesurfacetextureheight hasbeenabradedoru
33、ntilfurtherrubbingnolongerproducesanychangeinthesurfacecondition. 6.2.2 Measurethepeaktovalleyheightbymeansofadialgauge(5.3).Takethereferencesurfaceasaflat metalplate,pressedagainstthetestsurfaceunderaforceof3N. 6.2.3 Onthepreparedarea,makemeasurementsatnineevenlydistributedpointsandtakethemeanofthe
34、nine measurementsasthepeaktovalleyheightofthesurfacebeingexamined. 6.2.4 Wherenecessary,markthetestspecimenstoindicatetheirorientationinrelationtothedirectionof anisotropy. 6.2.5 ConditionthetestspecimensinaccordancewithoneofthestandardatmospheresgiveninISO291,fora periodofnotlessthan24h. 6.2.6 Wher
35、ethematerialofthetestspecimenshasbeenformedbycuringorchemicalcrosslinkingofliquid components,preparethetestspecimenunderconditionswhichrepresentascloselyaspossibletheconditions underwhichthesportssurfacewas,oristobe,installed.Donottestspecimensfromsuchmaterialsuntilatleast fivedayshaveelapsedfrommix
