36、2697-17:2017 (E) 7 1 Scope This European Standard specifies a test method for determining the particle loss of porous asphalt mixtures. Particle loss is assessed by the loss of mass of porous asphalt samples after turns in the Los Angeles machine. This test enables the estimation of the abrasion res
37、istance of porous asphalt. The test applies to laboratory compacted cylindrical specimens of porous asphalt mixtures, the upper sieve size of which does not exceed 22,4 mm. 42、 temperature range with an accuracy of 0,5 C. 3.3 Chamber, room or enclosure, large enough for the Los-Angeles-machine. During the test, the air temperature in the chamber shall remain constant to the test temperature 2 C. The air temperature shall be measured near the Los-Angeles-machine. 3.4 Oven,
43、 equipped with a closed ventilation system or a chamber fitted with a thermostatic control to maintain the test temperature constant in the vicinity of the samples, stored prior to the test, to 1 C. 3.5 Balances, of suitable capacity for the mass to be weighed with an accuracy of 0,1 % and a resolut
44、ion of 0,1 g. BS EN 12697-17:2017EN 12697-17:2017 (E) 8 4 Preparation of test specimens 4.1 At least five specimens shall be prepared for each sample tested. 4.2 The cylindrical specimens shall have a mass of (1,0 0,2) kg. The asphalt shall be mixed in accordance with EN 1269735 and specimens compac
45、ted as specified in EN 1269730, compacted by 2 50 blows, or EN 1269731, compacted by 40 gyrations. NOTE 1 The compaction method has an influence on the result. NOTE 2 For mixtures with a bulk density of approximately 2,0 Mg/m3, specimens with a diameter of (100 3) mm and a height of (63,5 2,5) mm sh
46、ould comply. 4.3 When using asphalt with an aggregate size greater than 16 mm, larger samples shall be manufactured and cored to achieve the correct size. 4.4 After the specimens have been compacted and removed from the mould, their bulk density and void content, shall be determined in accordance wi
47、th EN 12697-6 (Procedure D: bulk density by dimensions) and EN 12697-8, respectively. Maximum density is determined in accordance with EN 12697-5. NOTE The density of the specimens can affect the result because the mass of a specimen will influence the impact force imparted on contact during the tes
48、t, particularly when asphalt with aggregates of high or low density is tested. 4.5 Prior to the start of testing, the specimens shall be stored on a flat surface at a temperature of not more than 25 C for between 48 h and 42 days from the time of their manufacture. NOTE The storage time influences the mechanical properties of the specimen. For test purposes other than for Type testing, different storage times may be applied. 5 Procedure 5.1 The test temperature shall be defined and maintained in the chamber during the test with an uncerta
