33、. 6.2 Mixingandcuring Unlessotherwiseinstructedbythemanufacturer,usethefollowingmixingtechniqueforpreparingthe specimens. ForPCCandCCmortar,usethemortarmixer( 5.7)settoalowspeed,pouringtheliquidintothebowland addingthedryingredients,mixingforatotalperiodoftwominutes. Forconcretemixesthatcontaincoars
34、eaggregates( 4mm),preparationshallbeinaccordancewith EN1961,usingaconcretemixer( 5.7),orasotherwiseinstructedbythemanufacturer.Where manufacturersinstructionsprecludeuseofpartbagsofmaterial,aconcretemixer( 5.7)orothermethod recommendedbythemanufacturershallbeused. NOTE1 Ithasbeenfoundthatcertaintype
35、sofrepairmortarcanfoamexcessivelyundertheactionofthemortarmixer specifiedinEN1961.Analternativeistouseaconcretemixer( 5.7). Placethemixedmaterialcarefullyintothemoulds,compactingthoroughly.Thespecimensshallbefinished flushwiththesidesofthemouldusingasteelfloat. NOTE2 Theaircontent,strengthanddensity
36、oftheCCandPCCmixesshouldnormallybedeterminedtocharacterise themortarundertest. ThespecimenstobetestedshallbecomparedagainstprismsofreferenceconcretetypeC(0,45),asdefined inEN1766.Noairentrainingadmixtureshallbeusedinthemix.Themouldsshallbeatleast 100mmx100mmx400mmandshallbefilledandcompactedonavibra

Allspecimensshallbestrippedfromtheirmouldsandthencuredinaccordancewiththerequirementsof annexA.Thesidesofthespecimensshallbefreefromcontaminants(e.g.demouldingagentsorother materials),whichcouldinfluencethecarbonationrate. 6.3Dry conditioning Thetestspecimensandconcretecontrolspecimenssha
38、llbebroughttoanevenmoisturecontentbystorage inthestandardlaboratoryclimatedefinedinannexA,untiltheweightchangeislessthan0,2%ina24hour period. NOTE Thenecessaryperiodofstorageshallbeatleast14days.EN13295:2004(E) 7 7Procedure 7.1General Afterpreparationandconditioning,thespecimensshallbeplacedonknifee
39、dgesupportsinsidethesealed cabinetandexposedtothetestgas,adjustingtheflowratetoprovidepositivepressure. NOTE Thegasflowrateintothechamberwilldependonthesizeofchamberandnumberofspecimensbehavingas CO 2 absorbers.Theflowrateshouldbecheckedandverifiedassatisfactorybyperiodicsamplingofthegasin represent
40、ativeareasofthecabinets,includinglikelystillairpositions. Thedepthofcarbonation( d k )shallbemeasuredforboththetestspecimenandcontrolconcretespecimenat theendoftheDryconditioningperiodandthenafter56daysinthecabinet. Thedepthofcarbonationshallbemeasured,usingtheproceduregiveninprEN14630:2003clause4.2
41、,on freshlybrokenfacesfromeachprism.Foreachmeasurementasliceof15mmminimumthicknessshallbe brokenofftheprismusingthechiselorbolsterandthepiecesprayedwiththephenolphthaleinindicator solution.Measurementofthedepthofcarbonationshallthenbemade(605)minafterspraying.The carbonationdepthforthespecimen( d k
42、)istheaveragedepthonallfoursides,measuredinaccordancewith thefollowingprocedure,withSide1beingthetrowelledface. 7.2Standard measuring procedure 7.2.1 General Theresultshouldproducealevel,pinkcolorationintheuncarbonatedconcreteoneachsideofthespecimen exceptfortheedges,whichareroundedandshouldbeignore
43、dforthemeasurement.Thestandardresultis termedshapeAasshowninFigure1a.Thenormallength( l)oflevelsurfaceshallbenotlessthan30mm. NOTE Greaterdepthsofcarbonationoccurinthecornerareasofspecimens,wherecarbondioxidecanpenetrate fromtwosidesatonce.Thiseffectshouldbeomittedfromthecalculation. Foreachsurfaceinturn,thelengthoflevelsurface( l)shallbedividedintofourequalparts,formingfive points,asshowninFigure1a.Withthehelpofarulerorcalliper
