27、onnectedshotfiringcable,itisusuallynecessarytoapplyvoltagesofseveral hundredvolts,oftenexceeding1kV,tothecircuittoensurecorrectinitiation. Detonatorscanalsobesubjectedtotheapplicationofhighvoltagescausedbyelectrostaticchargingofthefiring circuit. Todeterminetheabilityofdetonatorstowithstandtheseappl
28、iedhighvoltageswithoutmisfiringorinitiating prematurely,itisessentialtodeterminethevalueofappliedd.c.voltagewhichcausesflashoverbetweenthe detonatorleadingwiresandthedetonatorshell.
