23、stickingfibresfromthealuminiumfoil 4Principle Aweighedfibresampleisprocessedthroughanopenertoobtainapad.Thispadisplacedonanaluminium foilandsubjectedtopressurebytwoseparatepressureplates,oneaftertheother.Thefirstpressureplateis maintainedatatemperaturesignificantlyhigherthanambient.Thesecondpressure

24、plateismaintainedat ambienttemperature.Thepadisremovedfromthefoilandallloosefibresarecleanedaway.Anyfibre entanglementsleftstickingtothefoilarenotedandcountedasstickypoints.Alltheoperationsandresult analysisarecomputercontrolled.EN142782:2004(E) 6 5Apparatus 5.1Automaticsystem Theautomaticsystemcomp

25、risesfivedevicesstationedalongaconveyorbeltandthemeansforunrollinga rollofaluminiumfoilontotheconveyor.Testspecimensaretransported,onthealuminiumfoil,bythe conveyortoeachofthefivestationsinturninlessthan5s. Thesequenceofthe5devicesintheautomaticsystemisasfollows. 5.1.1 Padpreparationdevice Thedevice

26、comprises: arotatingopenerrollercoveredwithmetalliccardclothingsuitableforprocessingalltypesofcotton(saw orrollerginning)intoahomogenousfibrepad.Thetype,dimensionsanddensityofthecardclothingare selectedsoastoberesistanttopreventcontaminationbystickingfibresfromconsecutivetestspecimens. anairstreaman

27、dachambertocollecttheopenedfibresandformapadwithasurfaceareaof(22230) cm 2 . ameanstodeliverthepadontothealuminiumfoil. 5.1.2 Highertemperaturepressuredevice Thedevicecomprisesaheatedpressureplatewhichcanbemovedverticallysoastoapplyaspecified pressureforaspecifiedtimeonapadpositionedbelowit. 28、ssetsoastoapplyaforceof(1700150)Ntothepadfor(252)s.Theundersideofthepressure plate,whichcomesintocontactwiththepad,hasanareaof(192 1)cmandisprovidedwithanon adhesivesurface. NOTE Thesurfaceoftheplateshouldremaincleanwithoutadheringfibresafterapplyingandremovingthepressure. Someadheringfibresonthissu

Thepadisremovedbysuction.Anyremainingloosefibresarecleanedfromthealuminiumfoilbyarotating cylindercoveredwitha

32、suitabletypeofcleaningfabric.Thecleaningfabriciscleanedbysuction.EN142782:2004(E) 7 NOTE Alooppilecarpetmadewithpolyamideloops,massofpileperunitareaabovethesubstrateof360g/mand loopheightof2,3mmhasbeenfoundsuitableascleaningfabric.Thesuppliersrecommendationforthefrequencyof renewalofthecleaningfabri

33、cshouldbefollowed. 5.1.5 Imageanalysisdevice Theimageanalysisdevicecomprises: Lightsourcessufficienttoassureevenilluminationofthefieldofview,soastomaintainauniformgrey scaleleveloverthefulldetectionareaofthecamera. VideocamerahavingaCCDsensor(forcameraresolutionandsensitivity,seethenotebelow),toprov

34、ide animageofanystickypointswithintheareaofmeasurementof(192 1)cm. NOTE1 Atthemomentoftheredactionofthepresentmethod,avideocamera,witharesolutionof581(V)x756(H) andasensitivityofatleast3lux,issuitable.Camerawithimprovedresolutionandsensitivitycouldbeused. Linearpolarisationfilters,toblockthatportion

35、ofthelightwhichemanatesfromthelightsourcesandis reflecteddirectlyfromtheflatsurfaceofthefoilinordertoassurethedetectionofthelightreflectedfrom thestickypoints. NOTE2 Computerprovidedwithanappropriatevideocardandimageanalysissoftwaretocaptureandanalysethe cameraimageintermsofthenumberandsizesofsticky

37、obtainedalmostevery30s. 5.2Balance Balanceabletoweighbetween2gand5gwithanaccuracyofatleast0,1g. 5.3Aluminiumfoil between27g/m 2 and81g/mhavingatleastonebrightsurface,exhibitingnotracesofoxidationandofa widthbetween200mmand300mm. 6 Atmosphereforconditioningandtesting Theatmosphereforconditioningandte

38、stingasdefinedinEN20139shallbeused. 7 Preparationoftestspecimens Conditionthecottonfibresample(laboratorysample)foratleast24hinstandardconditions. NOTE Ifthecottonfibresamplehasahighmoisturecontent,samplepredryingcouldberequired,becausethe equilibriuminmoisturehastobereachedfromthedriedstate. Prepar

Theautomaticdeviceprocessesthetestspecimenasfollows: a) preparationofthepad,withthedevicedescribedin5.1.1 b) applicationofheata

41、ndpressuretothepad,withthedevicedescribedin5.1.2 c) applicationofpressureatambienttemperaturetothepad,withthedevicedescribedin5.1.3 d) removalofthepad,andanyloosefibresfromthealuminiumfoil,withthedevicedescribedin5.1.4 e) counting,measuringandreportingthestickypoints,withthedevicedescribedin5.1.5 An

42、imageofthestickypoints(ifany)isregisteredbythevideocameraasitscansthealuminiumfoilsurface. Theimageisthencapturedbythecomputerandthesoftwareisusedtodetect,measureandcountthe numberofstickypointscontainedintheimage.Thesoftwarecanproduceanhistogramoffrequencyofsticky pointsasafunctionoftheirsize. Repeattheprocedurewiththetwoothertestspecimens. 9 Calculationandexpressionofresults Expressthetotalnumberofstickypointsbycalculatingthearithmeticmeanoftheresultsofthethreetest specimens.
