7、ndment A1:1997, published by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC). It is identical with IEC598-2-6:1994, second edition, including Amendment 1:1996, published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This British Standard is to be read in conjunction w
8、ith BSEN60598-1:1993 Luminaires Part 1: General requirements and tests, which it supplements or modifies. The many references to Part 1 should be read as references to BSEN60598-1 which is the English language version of EN60598-1 which was derived from IEC598-1:1992 edition3. The foreword of the EN
9、(HD) makes reference to the “date of withdrawal”, dow, of the relevant national standard. In this case the relevant national standard is BS4533-102.6:1990 which will be withdrawn on1July1995. Certificates and marks will not be awarded after this date with respect to the withdrawn BritishStandard. Ho
10、wever such certificates and marks, already awarded, may continue to apply to production until1July2000. Analogous provisions obtain in respect of Amendment No.1, for which the dow is1997-09-01 and the expiry date for current approvals is2002-09-01. Product certification. Users of this British Standa

33、ceeding: 1000V for class I and class II luminaires and 250V for class 0 luminaires. It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of IEC598-1 to which reference is made. This section does not apply to class III luminaires. It is not necessary to use “Safety extra low voltage” (SELV) transforme
34、rs or (SELV) convertors to comply with the requirements of this section. However, such transformers or convertors may satisfy the functional requirements of this section. 6.1.1 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute

Thetests described in each appropriate section of IEC598-1 shall be carrie
38、d out in the order listed in this section of IEC598-2. 6.3 Definitions For the purpose of this section, the definitions of section1 of IEC598-1 apply together with the following definitions: 6.3.1 input winding (of the transformer or convertor) the winding which is connected to the supply 6.3.2 outp
39、ut winding (of the transformer or convertor) the winding which is connected to the lamp 6.3.3 nominal supply voltage (of the transformer or convertor) the supply voltage assigned to the transformer NOTEIf the input winding has tappings, the transformer is considered to have more than one nominal sup
40、ply voltage. 6.3.4 nominal supply voltage range (of the transformer or convertor) the supply voltage range assigned to the transformer expressed by its lower and upper limits NOTEThe nominal supply voltage range refers to a single set of terminations. A transformer with a tapped input winding may ha
41、ve more than one nominal supply voltage range. 6.3.5 nominal output current (of the transformer or convertor) the maximum rated output current, at nominal supply voltage and nominal supply frequency, assigned to the transformer 6.3.6 nominal output voltage (of the transformer or convertor) the outpu

43、ires Luminaires shall be class0, class I or class II in accordance with the provisions of section2 of IEC598-1.EN60598-2-6:1994 6 BSI 02-1999 6.5 Marking The provisions of section3 of IEC598-1 apply together with the requirements of6.5.1 to6.5.5. NOTEThe marking, which according to the requirements
44、of section3 of IEC598-1 may appear on a ballast, may also for the purpose of this section appear on a transformer or convertor. 6.5.1 The nominal supply voltage or nominal supply voltage range (V) shall be marked on the luminaire in a position where it can be seen during maintenance. 6.5.2 The nomin
45、al output voltage (V) shall be marked on the luminaire in a position where it can be seen during lamp replacement. 6.5.3 Where applicable, a warning notice shall be given in the manufacturers instructions supplied with the luminaire stating that the luminaire operates at mains voltage and should be
46、switched off before lamp changing. Such a warning notice is necessary for example where the lamp voltage is considerably different from the supply voltage, for example,6V lamp and240V supply and where an autotransformer is used. 6.5.4 Transformers and convertors shall be marked with the manufacturer
47、s reference number or code. In addition, the information specified below, if it is necessary to ensure proper use and maintenance, shall be marked on the luminaire or on the transformer or on the convertor or in the manufacturers instructions supplied with the luminaire: a) nominal output in volt-am
48、peres (VA) or nominal output current (A): b) the voltage to which the transformer is adjusted if the transformer or convertor is adjustable during installation to suit different rated supply voltages; c) the nominal output voltage and nominal output current or VA for each tapping or winding. If, for
49、 transformers and convertors with tapped or multiple output windings however, the transformer or convertor is designed for special purposes involving frequent changes in output voltage (for example by a tap changing device), this marking is not required. 6.5.5 If a replaceable fuse-link is used to protect the transformer or convertor, the rating of the fuse-link shall be marked on or adjacent to its holder. If the transformer or convertor incorporates a replaceable fuse-link which is not visible during servicing, the fuse symbol s
