Some of the types of sleeving are also suitable for binding, identification, environmental sealing and mechanical protection. This standard is not applicable to coated papers. Mat

However, the selection of a material by a user for a specific application should be based on the actual requirements necessary for adequate performance in that application and not based on this specification alone. 2

、measurements when arranged in order of magnitude 3.2 consignment all material of one size, type, grade and colour submitted for delivery at the same time 4 Specimens Sufficient sleeving for the required tests shall be selected in such a manner as to be representative of the whole consignment. Each s
、ize, type, grade or colour in a delivery shall be regarded as a separate consignment unless otherwise agreed between purchaser and supplier. Page5 EN606841:2003-486061 3002:CEI 6 5 Classification Sleeving is classified according to the numbering of the specification sheets in the IEC 60684-3 series.
、 The first digit under “sheet” indicates the basic types of sleeving, i.e. 1: normally made by extrusion but excluding heat shrinkable, 2: heat shrinkable, 3: textile fibre: uncoated, 4: textile fibre: coated, 5 to 9: for later allocation. The second and third digits are used solely to differentiate
、 between sleevings and have no other significance. 5.1 Part 3 sheet numbering system This standard employs the following numbering system for the allocation of Part 3 sheets based on the classification system and the type of material. 33、to 499 6 Ordering When ordering sleeving, purchasers should include the description as detailed under designation given in the IEC 60684-3 sheets. 7 Dimensions Preferred dimensions are given in the IEC 60684-3 sheets but may be subject to agreement between purchaser and supplier. 7.1 Length Sleeving
、 shall be supplied in either continuous or cut lengths, as agreed between purchaser and supplier. 7.2 Internal diameter The internal diameters appropriate to each type of sleeving are given in IEC 60684-3. 7.3 Wall thickness The wall thicknesses appropriate to each type of sleeving are given in IEC
、60684-3. 7.4 Tolerances The tolerances of dimensions appropriate to each type of sleeving are given in IEC 60684-3. 8 Colour and transparency Sleeving shall be supplied in natural or coloured form. When two or more colours are used, each shall cover sufficient area of the surface to allow ready iden
、tification in normal daylight. For coloured sleeving, the colour(s) shall be a reasonable match to one of those specified in IEC 60304. Sleeving which is required to be transparent may be coloured and shall comply with the requirements of the transparency test given in IEC 60684-2. Non-standard colo
、urs may be subject to agreement between customer and supplier. Page7 EN606841:2003-486061 3002:CEI 8 9 Finish The sleeving shall be uniform in appearance, reasonably smooth and free from internal and external irregularities. The coating material of coated textile sleeving shall be uniform and contin
、uous and shall adhere firmly to the textile fibre. There shall be no defects capable of affecting the characteristics specified in IEC 60684-3. 10 Packaging Sleeving shall be supplied in a way which ensures adequate protection during transport, handling and storage. Sleeving shall be wound evenly an
、d compactly on reels or in coils suitably secured unless an alternative form of packaging such as containers or dispensers is required by the contract. If a unit pack contains more than one length of sleeving, the purchaser may require this to be indicated. The following items are subject to agreeme
、nt between purchaser and supplier: number of lengths, minimum lengths, marking requirements. 11 Labelling Each unit pack shall have the designation information clearly and indelibly marked on it as given in IEC 60684-3 sheets and the following information: a) the length of sleeving on each reel or c
、oil, or in a bag; b) the manufacturers and/or suppliers name and/or mark: c) when supplied in cut lengths, the number of lengths in the unit pack; d) additional information required by the purchaser (e.g. maximum voltage, maximum surface temperature, unsuitability for particular environments such as
、 oil and grease); e) the total quantity supplied and/or the number of reels or coils; f) the batch number; g) the use by date, if required; h) the characters/legend printed on the sleeves, if appropriate. 12 Qualification approval requirements 12.1 When agreed between purchaser and supplier, the sup
、plier shall provide third party certification by an approved national or international agency. Page8 EN606841:2003-486061 3002:CEI 9 12.2 Where required, the supplier shall provide details of material composition, agreed techniques and evidence to the satisfaction of the approving authority that the
、 sleeving supplied conforms to all the requirements listed in the IEC 60684-3 sheets. No changes shall be made to the declared composition and agreed techniques used in the production of the sleeving without the prior written agreement of the certification approval agency. Following such changes, th
、e certification approval agency may require a repetition of the qualification testing. Certification is valid for a period of five years, unless otherwise agreed after which time the supplier shall apply for re-approval for conformance to the IEC 60684-3 sheet. 12.3 Qualification tests shall be perf
、ormed on the size given in IEC 60684-3 sheets. 12.4 In the event of a failure of the sleeving to conform to the requirements of a test, the consignment shall be re-sampled and the test repeated, using two further sets of test specimens. Both sets shall conform to the appropriate test requirements, o
、therwise the sleeving shall be deemed not to conform to the IEC 60684-3 sheet. 12.5 In the absence of third party approval the supplier may be required to supply a test report demonstrating conformance to relevant IEC 60684-3 sheets. 13 Size and/or colour dependency It is to be understood by users o
、f these specifications that products furnished thereunder are expected to meet intrinsic material properties as related by formulation. The methods of test in IEC 60684-2, except those listed below, are essentially depending on the material formulation of the sleeving, and are therefore only require
、d to be tested on the qualification size and colour as listed in the individual of IEC 60684-3 sheet. These tests are then qualifying for all product sizes and colours listed in the IEC 60684-3 sheet for the same formulation. Additional tests, which may be dependent on size and/or colour, will be specified in the relevant IEC 60684-3 sheets. These tests will normally be taken from the
