21、and specifications for high-quality recording and playback with the8mm video system. This part is applicable to both525line60field and625line50field TV signals. 1.2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions

A reference tape has been defined for measurements of the recording characteristi
25、cs of the high-band8mm tapes. This reference tape is an MP tape numbered RSE-5001 specified in IEC1105 NOTESeeAnnex A for details of the RSE-5001. 2.2 Video characteristics of the high-band tape All measurements are to be made in comparison with the reference tape described in2.1, with the reference
26、 values taken as0dB. 2.2.1 RF optimum recording current the RF optimum recording current shall be01dB at7MHz for MP tape and1dB 1dB at7MHz forME tape 2.2.2 RF output level the RF output level shall be: 2.2.3 RF frequency response D the RF frequency response D shall be greater than0 NOTEThe playback

32、ure 2 below. 4.2 Pre-emphasis and clipping The luminance signal shall be given sub pre-emphasis and main pre-emphasis and DC clipped prior to frequency modulation. Due to the adoption of DC clipping, the clipping levels shown below are determined irrespective of the frequency characteristics of the
33、emphasized signal. Main pre-emphasis The main pre-emphasis shall be added by using the circuit shown in Figure 3 or its equivalent. Sub pre-emphasis The sub pre-emphasis characteristics shall be in accordance with the IEC843-1 specification. Figure 2 Frequency spectrum allocation of recording signal

35、sub pre-emphasis and killed during the vertical blanking interval. A typical vertical pre-emphasis circuit is shown in Figure 4. 4.3 Modulation characteristics FM carrier frequencies corresponding to reference video levels shall be as follows: 4.4 Recording current The recording current shall exhibi
36、t the optimum value at7MHz, which is the center frequency of the FM carrier range as defined in4.3.
