The object
、of this standard is to enable users of magnetic recording systems to compare technical product data from different manufacturers and to enable compatibility within the VTR format. Currently available VTRs, adjusted with the IEC reference tape appropriate to the corresponding IEC VTR standard, should
、 give satisfactory results with currently available tapes. The information within this standard covers existing IEC formats. For future formats the corresponding information will be included in the IEC standard which defines the individual system. 2 Normative references The following standards conta

、TR systems and reference tapes 5 Electromagnetic parameters The IEC reference tape is used as the0dB reference for the following electromagnetic compatibility parameters. The data for the IEC reference tapes is given inAnnex A. 5.1 Video: Optimum recording current. 5.2 Audio: a) optimum bias; b) low
、-frequency sensitivity; c) high-frequency sensitivity. 5.3 The above parameters are the basis for comparison of video, tapes and video tape recorders measured in accordance with IEC698 and IEC735. 5.4 Tolerances of reference tapes should be specified by the manufacturer and controlled accordingly. 6
、 Alignment In order to assure matching of mass produced video tape recorders and video tapes, alignment of video tape recorders shall be such that compatibility with the relevant IEC reference tape is obtained. 7 Determination of the tape It is the task of the National Committee which presents each
