23、1998 BSI 06-1999 3 1 General 1.1 Scope and object This screen test is prepared for single-mode non-angled optical fibre connectors which are tunable. The purpose of this part of IEC61300 is to ensure that tuned plugs have been optimally adjusted. The procedures described in this test are applicable
24、for both optical patch cords and pigtail cords. 1.2 General description Attenuation in single mode connectors is mainly caused by lateral misalignment of the respective fibre cores. The misalignment is related to lateral offsets of the fibre core centre to the ferrule centre of each connector plug.
25、Tuned connectors are used for the realization of attenuations lower than a certain specified value of L maxin random concatenation in the field. In order to realize this, the plug shall have a lateral offset of fibre core centre to the ferrule centre smaller than a certain specified value of R max .
26、 In addition, the tuned plug has a key for orienting the plug. The plug shall be assembled so that the direction of its fibre core centre to its ferrule centre coincides with its keying direction with an adjusting error less than a specified value adj (=2;/N adj , where N adjis the adjusting number)
27、, where a recommended adjusting number N adjis4,6 or8. The screen test methods described in the subsequent procedure are able to identify plugs having the desired tuning performance. The tests ensure that the plugs passing this test have attenuations lower than L maxwhen they are randomly concatenat
28、ed to each other. Two methods are described for screen testing the assembled tuned connectors: method 1: attenuation measurement method with a reference plug and a standard adjustment plug; method 2: fibre core position measurement method with optical instruments. 1.3 Normative reference The followi

All normative documents are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this part of IEC61300 are

This
41、value should be less than a specified value of L max.If L 0is greater than L max , then the objective plug does not pass the test. 3.1.2 Connect the objective plug to the standard adjustment plug using the standard adjustment adaptor so that the key direction of the objective plug coincides with the
