23、carbondioxideandin someinstancescarbonmonoxide; b) shieldinggasessuchasargon,helium,carbondioxideormixturesofthesegases,whichcanbetoxicor asphyxiant; c) gasesproducedbytheactionofheatupontheweldingfluxorslag,e.g.carbondioxideandcarbon monoxide; d) gasesproducedbytheactionofheatorultravioletradiation

24、upontheatmospheresurroundingthewelding arc,e.g.nitricoxide,nitrogendioxideandozone;and e) vapoursproducedasaresultofthermaldegradationofsurfacecoatingsintheweldingorcuttingofmetals treatedwithpaint,primer,sealerorothersubstances.Vapourscanalsobeproducedasaresultof degradationofsolventvapourfromdegre

25、asingoperations,buttheirmeasurementisnotdealtwithinthis standardbecausegoodworkingpracticeswillavoidtheirproduction. ThescopeofthispartofENISO10882hasbeenlimitedtothosegaseswhichareproducedbyweldingoperations. Inparticular,fuel,oxidantandshieldinggasesusedinweldingandalliedprocessesarenotcovered,sin

26、cethe hazardsassociatedwiththeiruse(e.g.asphyxiation,explosion)aredifferentfromthosearisingfromthegasesdealt withinthisguide.
