24、 crushing strength1ScopeThis International Standard specifies a method for determining the cold crushing strength of shaped insulatingrefractory products.2 Normative referencesThe following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. 26、 crushing strengthmaximum load (applied under specified conditions at room temperature) divided by the area over which the loadis applied, which a refractory can withstand before failure occurs3.2 shaped insulating productshaped refractory having a true porosity of not less than by volume4 Principle

27、At ambient temperature, a test piece of specified dimensions is subjected, in a compression test machine, to anincreasing load until either the test piece collapses or its height is reduced to of its original value. Duringtesting, the load is increased at a specified rate. The cold crushing strength

28、 is calculated from the maximumforce recorded and the dimensions of the test piece.5 Apparatus5.1 Mechanical or hydraulic crushing strength machine, that will enable the load to be increasedprogressively and smoothly, and with a system of measurement that will enable the force exerted on the testpie

29、ce to be known to within . The range of the machine shall be such that the maximum force exerted inthe test is greater than of the maximum force of which the machine is capable. One of the platens of themachine shall be mounted on a spherical seating that will compensate for any small error of paral

30、lelismbetween the load-bearing faces of the test pieces. The platens of the machine shall be ground and the lowerone shall be marked so as to facilitate placing the test piece at its centre.5.2 Micrometer, or other suitable instrument, to measure the deformation of the test piece during the test.45

To facilitate

33、further statistical evaluation, the same number of test pieces should be taken from each item.6.3 Each test piece shall be nominally the size of half a standard brick, i.e.: or.6.4 In the case of special shapes, the test pieces shall be dry cut to one of the sizes specified in 6.3.NOTE If possible,

34、the test report should indicate the relationship of the direction of loading to the direction of pressing orextrusion during manufacture.6.5 The load-bearing faces of each test piece shall be flat within a tolerance of . This condition shall bechecked across both diagonals of each load-bearing face

35、with a steel rule (5.5) and a feeler gauge(5.6).6.6 The load-bearing faces of each test piece shall be parallel within a tolerance of . This condition shallbe checked by making four measurements of the height of the test piece, one at the centre of each of its foursides; the measurements shall not d

44、 6.1);2) the number of test pieces cut from each item, if more than one (see 6.2);3) the dimensions of the test pieces (see 6.3); their positions in the brick (see 6.2) and the presence andlocation of any fired surface;4) where possible, the relationship between the direction of loading and the dire

45、ction of pressing orextrusion during manufacture (see Note to 6.4);d) the results of the test, including:1) the rate of stress increase (see 7.4);2) whether the test was terminated by the collapse of the test piece or by the height being reduced to of the original (see 7.5);3) the individual values
