、ization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISOtechnical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has beenestablished

、has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental andnon-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the InternationalElectrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.Inter

、national Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standardsadopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publicatio

、O 3852 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 102, Iron ore and direct reduced iron, SubcommitteeSC 3, Physical testing. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 3852:1988), which has been revised tohomogenise with other physical test standards.BS ISO 3852:2007vIntroduction

、This is one of a number of physical test methods that have been developed to measure various physicalparameters and to evaluate the behaviour of iron ores including reducibility, disintegration, crushing strength, apparent density, etc. This method was developed to provide a uniform procedure, valida

、ted by collaborativetesting, to facilitate comparisons of tests made in different laboratories. The results of this test should be considered in conjunction with other tests used to evaluate the quality of ironores as feedstocks for blast furnace and direct reduction processes. This International Stan

、dard may be used to provide test results as part of a production quality-control system,as a basis of a contract, or as part of a research project.BS ISO 3852:2007blank1Iron ores for blast furnace and direct reduction feedstocks Determination of bulk densityCAUTION This International Standard may in

It isthe responsibility of the user of this International Standard to establish appropriate safety and healthpractices and to determine the applicability

、 of regulatory limitations prior to its use.1ScopeThis International Standard specifies two methods of determining the bulk density of iron ores.Method 1 is applicable to natural iron ore and processed iron ore having a nominal top size of .Method 2 is applicable to any natural iron ores and process

、25 Sampling, sample preparation and preparation of test portions5.1 Sampling and sample preparationIn the case of method 1, sampling of a lot and preparation of a test sample shall be in accordance withISO 3082. A test sample of at least of natural and processed iron ore shall be obtained. The test s

、ample may be carried out using an as-received, air-dried or oven-dried sample. If the test is made onan oven-dried basis, dry the sample to constant mass at and cool it to room temperature beforepreparation of the test portions.NOTE 1 Constant mass is achieved when the difference in mass between two

、 subsequent measurements becomes lessthan of the initial mass of the test sample. In the case of method 2, the test sample shall have a minimum mass of 35 tonnes, the recommended massbeing 50 tonnes.NOTE 2 A test sample of mass 35 tonnes has a volume of approximately to , according to the material.5.

、2 Preparation of test portionsIn the case of method 1, the test portions shall be obtained from the test sample using the division methodsgiven in ISO 3082.At least 4 test portions, each of , shall be prepared from the test sample. In the case of method 2, the test sample itself is used as a test por

The container shall be reinforced bya steel band around the outside periphery at the top, and shall have two handles, apart, at
