It should be applied on this provisional basis, so that information and experience of its practical application may be obtained. Comments

4、 arising from the use of this Draft for Development are requested so that UK experience can be reported to the European organization responsible for its conversion into a European Standard. A review of this publication will be initiated 2 years after its publication by the European organization so t

5、hat a decision can be taken on its status at the end of its three-year life. The commencement of the review period will be notified by an announcement in Update Standards. According to the replies received by the end of the review period, the responsible BSI Committee will decide whether to support

6、the conversion into a European Standard, to extend the life of the Technical Specification or to withdraw it. 25、mbourg,Malta,Netherlands,Norway, Portugal,Slovakia,Spain,Sweden,SwitzerlandandtheUnitedKingdom.CEN/TS1376327:2003(E) 5 0 Introduction 0.1 Backgroundandbasicprinciples Electronicinitiationsystemshavebeendevelopedforuseincivilblastingwork.Detonatorsinthesesystems normallyhavedelaytimeswhicharefarmorea

26、ccuratethanconventionaldetonatorswithpyrotechnicdelay,and areclaimedtofacilitatebetterblastingresults,e.g.intermsofbetterfragmentation,reducedgroundvibrations,less damageonremainingrock,etc. Fromasafetyandreliabilitypointofviewelectronicinitiationsystemsaremorecomplexthanconventionalelectric andnone

27、lectricdetonatorsystems,whichresultsinnewriskfactors. TheaimofthisTechnicalSpecificationistoreachnegligiblerisksatleastatthesameappliedsafetyandreliability levelasthecorrespondingstandardsforconventionalelectricdetonators.Thisstatementshouldbeseenasa generalobjectiveoftheTechnicalSpecificationatasys

28、temlevelandnotasadetailedguidelinetojudgethelevel ofacceptabilityforindividualspecificdemands.Howeverinsomecasesthestandardsforconventionalelectric detonatorsreferredtointhisTechnicalSpecificationareapplicableinvariousgrades.Inthesecasesthe requirementlevelforelectricdetonatorshavebeenadopted,possib

29、lyaftersomeamendmentsifnecessary. ThisTechnicalSpecificationspecifiesariskanalysisproceduretobeusedtoinvestigatethesafetyandreliabilityof electronicinitiationsystemsbyidentifyinghazardsandestimatingtherisksassociatedwiththesystem. Thestepintheriskanalysisprocedure,whichreferstoacceptabilityofrisks,i

30、ncludesbothreferencestotesting andevaluationmethods,whichapplywhereappropriateforthespecificsystem.TheTechnicalSpecificationalso stipulateslevelsofacceptability. Thisstructureofcombiningageneralriskanalysisprocedureincombinationwithspecificrequirementsrelatedto testingandevaluationaswellasguidelines

31、forevaluationspecifiedininformativeannexeshasbeenchosenforthe followingreasons: Theuseofelectronicinitiationsystemsarehighlyrelatedtosafetyofhumanlifeandhealthaswellasto property.Thesafetyandreliabilityofelectronicinitiationsystemsdependsonanumberoffactorsinteracting, whichmakesthesystemscomplicated

32、toevaluateintheserespects.InthisTechnicalSpecificationrelevantrisk factorshavebeenaddressedtorisksofunintendedinitiation,misfireandincorrectfunction. Theneedtoconsidersafetyandreliabilityforindividualcomponentsofthesystemi.e.detonators, firing/testing/programmingunitsaswellasoverallsystemaspectsincl

33、udingconnectionandsetuplimitsand communicationbetweenthedifferentcomponents. Theneedforevaluationofsafetycriticalelectronichardwareandsoftwarebothindetonatorsandin firing/testing/programmingunits. Manufacturersofelectronicinitiationsystemshaveusedsignificantlydifferentdesignandsystemsolutionsin orde

34、rtofulfilacceptablesafetyandreliabilitycriteria.Theproductdevelopmentinthefieldisrapid.Therefore theTechnicalSpecificationaimstobevalidfordifferentsystemsolutions. ConsiderableefforthasbeentakentorefertootherpartsofprEN13763forconventionaldetonatorsasfaras possible,specifyingapplicabilityofthesetest

35、saswellaspossibleamendmentsinordertoavoidredundancyand inconsistency.CEN/TS1376327:2003(E) 6 Possibilitiesfornondestructivetestingusingdummydetonatorswithoutexplosivecontent,havebeenconsidered asfaraspossibleduetothehighcostsofelectronicdetonators. 0.2 Overviewofanelectronicinitiationsystem Electron

36、icdetonatorsystemscanbefittedintwocategories:nonprogrammableelectronicdetonators(orfixed delaydetonators)andprogrammabledelaydetonators.Programmabledetonatorscanbeprogrammedusingone waydatacommunicationortwowaydatacommunication.Thesecategoriesareelaborateduponbelow: Nonprogrammabledetonators Thistyp

37、eofdetonatordoesnotrequireanydatacommunicationsinordertoignite.Theconnectiontothedetonator canbeelectricalornonelectrical.Thesedetonatorsarenormallynumberedinsuchawaythattheuserrecognizes itsintendeddelaytime. Programmabledetonators Thedelaytimeofthesedetonatorsisprogrammedpriortoblasting,byeitherth

38、etestingunitorthefiringunit.This typeofdetonatorsusuallyrequireelectricalconnectionstofacilitate: Onewaydatacommunication:Thisimpliesthatcommunicationonlytakeplacetothedetonator.No informationisreceivedfromthedetonator.Inthesesystems,itisvitallyimportantthatcommunicationstothe detonatorarerobust.
