CGSB standards and specifications, and national standards developed by the CGSB, are developed in conformance

5、with the policies described in the Policy Manual for the Development and Maintenance of Standards by CGSB. CGSB specifications are developed to state the particular requirements of B government or an industry for a material, a product, or a service. A specification also states the procedures to dete

6、rmine if the requirements have been met. Unlike a CGSB standard, a CGSB specification may lack any one or any combination of the followinfi factors: broad application, committee balance, representation of a vital interests or consensus approval. CGSB specifications are subject to review and revision

7、 at any time, so as to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are always welcome, should be brought to the notice of the committee concerned. Changes to specifications are issued either as separate amendment sheets or in new editions of spec

8、ifications. An upto-date listing of CGSB specifications, including details on latest issues and amendments, and ordering instructions, will be found in the Catalogue of Standards and Qualified Products Lists which is published annually and is available without charge upon request. Although the inten

9、ded primary application of this specification is stated in its Scope, it is important to note that it remains the responsibility of the users of the specification to judge its suitability for their particular purpose. It is intended to be used by

31、 food services in the procurement of food. The test methods referred to in this specification may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this specification has the r

The sources for these publications are shown in the Notes section. CLASSIFICATION Milk powder to this specification shall be supplied in the following types according

42、 to fat content and drying temperature, as specified (par. 8.1): Types 1A - Skim-milk powder - High heat 1B - Skim-milk powder - Medium heat 1C - Skim-milk powder - Low heat 2 - Whole-milk powder. When specified (par. 8-1), the milk powder shall be instantized. For normal uses of different types of

43、skim milk powder, see par. 8.2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS In addition to meeting the requirements of this specification, milk powder shall comply with the relevant portions of the Acts and Regulations detailed in par. 2.1.2 and 2.1.3, which shall also take precedence over any requirement in the specifica

44、tion that may conflict with legislation. Milk powder shall be uniform in composition, free from foreign material and from lumps that do not break up readily under slight pressure. When reconstituted with potable, odour and flavour-free water, the product from the milk powder shall be sweet, clean an

45、d free from any objectionable flavours or odours. Milk powder shall be produced in an establishment registered under the Dairy Products Regulations in accordance with the Code of hygienic practice referred to in par. 2.1.7. DETAIL REQUIREMENTS Milk powder shall be produced by the spray-drying proces

46、s and may be further processed to improve its dispersibiiity and solubility (instantized). Unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1), the skim milk powder and whole milk powder shall meet the requirements of the Canada 1 grade and be so graded.
