The

3、CCSB has been accredited by the Standards Council of Canada as a national standards-writin organization. The standards that it develops and offers as Nationaf Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures establish- for this purpqse by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition to sta

4、ndards it publishes as national standards, the CGSB produces standards and specifications to meet particular needs, in response to requests from a variety of sources in both the public and private sectors. CCSB standards and specifications, and national standards developed by the CGSB, are developed

5、 in conformance with the policies described in the Policy Manual for the Development and Maintenance of Standards by CCSB. CCSB spscifications are developed to state the particular requirements of a government or an industry for a material, a product, or a service. A specification also states the pr

6、ocedures to determine if the requirements have been met. Unlike a CCSB standard, a CGSB specification may lack any one or any combination of the followin factors: broad application, committee balance, representation of ah vital interests or consensus approval. CCSB specifications are subect to revie

7、w and revision at any time, so as to ensure that they heep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are always welcome, should be brought to the notice of the committee concerned. Changes to specifications are issued either as separate amendment sheets or in new ed

8、itions of specifications. An uptodate listing of CCSB specifications, including details on latest issues and amendments, and ordering instructions, will be found ln the Catalogue of Standards Qualified Products Lists which is published annually and is available without charge upon request. Although

9、the intended primary application of this specification is stated in its Scope, it is important to note that it remains the responsibility of the users of the specification to judge its suitability for their particular purpose. Many tests required by CGSB specifications are inherently hazardous. The

32、 for human consumption. It is intended to be used by food services in the procurement of food. APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS The following publications are applicable to this specification: Department of Agriculture Canada Agricultural Products Standards Act Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Regulations. Departme

33、nt of National Health and Welfare Food and Drugs Act and Regulations. Reference to the above publications is to the latest issues. The source for these publications is shown in the Notes section. CLASSIFICATION Grades The fresh fruits shall be supplied in grades Canada No. 7 or Canada Domestic, as s

34、pecified (par.8.1), when such grade has been established. Grades Canada No. 1 and Canada Domestic have been established for the following fresh fruits: apricots, cherries, crab apples, cranberries, grapes, peaches, plums, prunes and rhubarb (field). For cantaloupes, blueberries and strawberries only

35、 Canada No. 1 grade exists. The fresh vegetables shall be supplied in grades Canada No. 7 or Canada No. 2, as specified (par. 8.1). when such grade has been established. Grades Canada No. 1 and 2 have been established for the following fresh vegetables: asparagus, beets, Brussels sprouts, cabbages,

36、carrots, cauliflowers, celery, cucumbers (field and greenhouse), head lettuce, onions, parsnips, potatoes and tomatoes (field and greenhouse). CLASSIFICATION Catgories Les fruits frais doivent tre fournis dans les categories Canada no 7 ou Canada domestique. selon les prescriptions (par. 8.1), lorsque ces categories existent. Les catgories Canada no 1 et Can

Potatoes shall be supplied in grades Canada No. I,

44、(large or small) or Canada No. 2, as specified (par. 8.1). In addition to the grades given in par. 3.1.2, celery shall be supplied in grade Canada No. 7 Heart, if so specified (par. 8.1). The following fruits for which no Canadian grade has been established shall be supplied in compliance with US No

45、. 1 or 2, as specified (par. 8,l): bananas, watermelon, honeydew melons, citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon, orange, tangerine, mandarine, etc). Variety - A specific variety may be specified (par. 8.1) for the following fruits: apples, grapes, pears, plums and prunes. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Fresh fruits

46、 and vegetables shall fully comply with the grade requirements and other provisions prescribed in the Canada Agricultural Products Standards Act and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Regulations. The fruits and vegetables shall be of one variety or of similar varietal characteristics as established for

47、the grade concerned in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Regulations. They shall be clean, sound, fresh and without evidence of moisture loss (wilted, shriveled or soft), moisture or freezing damage or sunburn. The fruits and vegetables shall be practically free from foreign matter, discolouration or da

48、mage caused by insects, worms, disease, decay, over-maturity, hail, mechanical or other means. The fresh fruits and vegetables shall be delivered at such a state of maturity and so packaged and packed that they will arrive at destination in good condition and at the specified (par. 8.1) state of maturity. DETAIL REQUIREMENTS The determination of the grades for fresh fruits and vegetables shall be based on factors such as: uniformity of size and shape minimum and maximum diameter minimum length colour maturity freedom from disease, injury and
